The official social channels of Gintama have finally released, after months of small news and updates, the first trailer of Gintama The Final Movie which will be released in Japanese cinemas on January 8, 2021, health emergency caused by Coronavirus permitting.

Gintama The Final Movie will adapt the final part of the original manga that has not been transposed into over 350 episodes of the animated series!

Gintama

Gintama ended last June 20 with the publication of chapter 704 after a very long serialization passed through the legendary Weekly Shonen Jump magazine on the Jump GIGA application and finally on a proprietary platform for the last three chapters.

Gintama is published in Italy by Edizioni Star Comics which has published the first 61 volumes available.

The animated version instead it ended with a final season aired between 2018 and 2019, reaching a total of 367 exclusive episodes, various OVAs and films. In Italy it was released on DVD by Dynit and dubbed in Italian with various television passages including MTV, Ka-Boom and Popcorn TV.

Here is a brief synopsis:

Gintama takes place in a Japan halfway between that of the Edo period and that of today, in the city of Edo (now Tokyo) and mostly in the Kabuki-chō district. During the Edo period, the aliens called Amanto attacked the Earth and, after a war that began twenty years before the main story, they forced the shogunate to surrender and the "terminal" was built, a high tower located in Edo , as a port for space ships. After that they prohibited the wearing of the katana in public, effectively canceling the samurai caste. Despite this, the aliens brought innovations to Earth and therefore an environment halfway between two eras was formed, where there are modern objects such as cars, televisions, the internet and even the Shōnen Jump magazine, but many buildings resemble those of the Edo period and are the institutions of the time, such as the shogunate and the shinsengumi, were also present. However, someone is not willing to accept this imposition: it is Gintoki Sakata, a rebellious and impulsive bad boy, who with a group of friends tries to get by without betraying the principles of the true samurai…
