Genshin Impact: How to Get Weapons and Characters | Guide
Do you love The Legend of Zelda Breath of the Wild? Do you want another quality game that of the same genre and style? Genshin Impact is for you and is available on PC, PS4 and mobile devices. It is an RPG with a lot of content, all in free to play format. Obviously, like any f2p, Genshin Impact inserts a “gatcha” system or, if you prefer a more Western term, “loot box”. In the game it is referred to as Wishes and allows you to get characters and weapons to become more and more powerful. How exactly does it work?

Genshin Impact is not available in Italian, so in this article we will use the English terms so as not to create confusion and to be as precise as possible, since it is the language that most Italian players will use.

Genshin Impact | How to get characters and weapons

Genshin Impact gives us access to one of two starting characters, who will be the centerpiece of the game's narrative component. However, this is not the only warrior we can use. After a first tutorial phase, we will unlock the Wishes, a classic loot box system that, by spending a currency in game, generates rewards randomly.

The rewards are divided into levels, precisely level 3 (weapons only), level 4 (both weapons and characters) and level 5 (both weapons and characters). Level 5 is the highest, most useful and rarest to obtain.

What categories of Wishes are there?

Like many similar games, there is no single category of Wishes. The loot boxes are divided into "Banners", each of which allows you to get different types of characters, weapons and prizes. However, even the "Banners" are divided into two categories:

Standard Banner: these are basic Wishes, always present in the game; to perform a single opening you must spend an item called "Acquaint Fate", or spend 160 Primogems Limited or Event Banner: these are limited-time Wishes; to perform a single opening you must either spend an item called “Intertwined Fate”, or spend 160 Primogems. All Banners share the same list of level 3 and level 4 rewards, but each Banner has exclusive level 5 rewards. In addition, Limited or Event Banners have a specific character or level 5 weapon that is easier to obtain than others. This specific reward is "advertised" by the Banner itself.

What are Acquaint Fate, Intertwined Fate and Primogems?

In the Genshin Impact Banner explanation above, we used a few terms that you may not know if you haven't started the game yet and if you have only tried the first few minutes. So let's do some clarity.

Acquaint Fate is the currency used for Standard Banners. They can be obtained within the game in various ways. Of the two types of Fairies they are the least rare.

Intertwined Fairies are the currency used for Limited or Event Banners. They can be obtained within the game in various ways. Of the two types of Fairies they are the rarest.

Primogems are a currency that can be obtained as a reward in game or can be purchased for real money. The Primogems can be converted into Fairies, at the cost of 160 Primogems each: it is obviously recommended to use the Primogems for the Intertwined Fate, which are rarer and allow you to obtain better rewards and for a limited time.

What rewards do I get through Wishes?

Each Wish from Genshin Impact allows you to get a character or a weapon. In addition, “Masterless” items are also often obtained, namely: Masterless Stardust and Masterless Starglitter. These are basically bonuses that can be exchanged for materials, fairies and other rare prizes at the "Paimon's Bargains".

Paimon is the fairy who acts as a companion and guide from the beginning of the journey. Your shop is directly accessible via the break menu and the "Shop" item. We repeat that these functions are unlocked only after completing a series of initial missions that serve as tutorials.

Paimon's Bargains is a shop that allows you to obtain weapons, characters and rewards by spending in-game currency. It is also important to note that each Limited or Event Banner is dedicated to either characters or weapons: the Banner itself makes this clear.

Getting a level 5 reward in a Banner dedicated to characters means having many more chance that the prize is a character. Getting a level 5 reward in a Weapon Banner, on the other hand, means you have a much better chance that the reward is a weapon. However, it is possible to obtain a weapon in a Banner dedicated to the characters, and vice versa.

In the case in which a duplicate of a Level 5 character is obtained, for the first 6 times this is converted into a Lucky Star of that character and in 10 Masterless Starglitters, while from the seventh time you get 25 Masterless Starglitters. In the case of a Level 4, you get six times a Fortune Star of that character and in 2 Masterless Starglitter, while from the seventh time you get 5 Masterless Starglitters

What are the achievement percentages?

Each rarity level of Genshin Impact has its own drop rate within Banners. The percentages also change depending on whether it is a Character Banner or a Weapon Banner.

Character Banner: the rules Regarding Character Banners, each Wish has the following achievement percentages:

Level 5: Character, 0.6% Level 4: Weapon or character. 5.1% Level 3: Always a weapon, 94.3% There are also additional rules for Limited or Event Banners dedicated to characters:

If you perform 9 Wishes in a row and you only get Level 3: starting with the 10th Wish the chance to get a Level 4 becomes 13%, while the chance to get a Level 5 becomes 1.6% If you perform 89 Wishes in a row and you don't get a Level 5: starting from the 90th Wish the chance to get a Level 5 is 50%. If the first Level 5 you get this way is not the best character advertised by the Banner, then the next Level 5 you get will be the best character advertised by the Banner with a 100% chance. Weapon Banner: The Rules As for Weapon Banners, each Wish of Genshin Impact has the following drop rates:

Level 5: Weapon, 0.7% Level 4: Weapon or character. 6% Level 3: Always a Weapon, 93.3% There are also a series of additional rules for Weapons Limited or Event Banners:

If you get a level 4 or level 5 reward, there is is a 75% chance that it is one of the weapons advertised by the Banner. If the level 4 or 5 first prize is not one of the advertised weapons, the next level 4 or 5 prize will be 100% one of the advertised weapons. If you perform 9 Wishes in a row and you only get level 3: the percentages of Level 4 increase to 14.5%, while the percentages of Level 5 go up to 1.875%. If you perform 89 Wishes in a row and you don't get a Level 5: starting from the 90th Wish the chance to get a Level 5 is 50%. If the first Level 5 you get in this way is not the best weapon advertised by the Banner, then the next Level 5 you get will be the best weapon advertised by the Banner with a 100% chance. Each character has their own design, their own weapon and their own abilities. Remember that to take advantage of these bonus effects of the Wishes you must do the drawings all in a row in the same Banner. Each Banner has its own separate count, so it is useless to do, for example, five Wishes in a Character Banner and five Wishes in a Weapon Banner: neither Banner will activate the Percentage Bonus.

It is therefore clear that it is always advisable to wait to be able to make 10 Wishes in a row, or more, in order to take advantage of the bonuses to the percentages of Genshin Impact.
