Activision-Blizzard: Pete Vlastelica leaves the management of the eSport division
Last January, and before the start of the pandemic that will have affected its entire organization, Activision-Blizzard eSport announced that the broadcasting of the various competitions would now be on YouTube. An important decision, in which was involved Pete Vlastelica, CEO of this competitive branch.

Nine months later, Activision-Blizzard eSport is preparing to appoint a new director. Indeed, a little over a year after his arrival, Pete Vlastelica decided to resign from his post. He will step down after the Overwatch League Finals, which take place October 8-10 in South Korea, but will not be leaving Blizzard. At the moment, it is not known exactly what his next assignments will be with the company, and the name of the replacement has not been released. In a statement dedicated to the move, a spokesperson said:

Pete Vlastelica, CEO of Activision Blizzard Esports and Commissioner of the Overwatch League, will soon move from his role at ABE to new activities for the Activision Blizzard account, after the Overwatch League Grand Finals. He has been instrumental in the development of the company's esports business and the development of the industry, and we thank Pete for his contribution and impact on our business over the past four years.

After a rocky start on YouTube and the need to reorganize to deal with the pandemic, the Overwatch League has finally recovered to cruising speed, drawing over 375,000 spectators in September for week 2 of the playoffs :

There has been a lot of work over the past three years to prepare for this round trip season. After four really solid homestands, sold-out crowds, screaming fans, great competition, the venue looked perfect for the product we had put together, the coronavirus hit. We managed to put together a season that I think has really worked, said Pete Vlastelica.
