PS5: A photo shows the (small) fans and expansion slot of the M.2 SSD
A PS5 photo posted on Twitter shows what the inside of Sony's console looks like. In the background you can see a rather small fan which should represent, together with its twin positioned on the opposite side, the heart of the cooling system of Sony's next-gen console. In the same photo you can also see where the M2 SSD expansion slot should be placed.

This image could show how Sony has thought about simplifying the memory expansion operations, as well as cleaning the PlayStation fans 5. The white cover that wraps the two sides of the console, in fact, seems easily removable, allowing you to reach the fans and the M.2 slot, or where you can insert an additional SSD, in a simple way and without having to open the console body.

The M.2 slot, protected in this case by one white plastic door, it seems well positioned to best dissipate the heat. It is located, in fact, near one of the console's two fans, as well as on the outside of the chassis, near the front of the console.

The general cooling system seems to arouse more concern. Not only do the two fans (the other, identical, should be mirrored on the other side of the console) look rather small (although the perspective may be deceptive), they are also not optimally positioned. In this way, in fact, the white shield should obstruct the flow of air, making, in theory, the cooling system less effective.

The consequence, therefore, could be that the PS5 will struggle to dissipate the heat , forcing the two small fans to often work at maximum power. Thus producing, always in theory, a lot of noise.

Another photo also shows how the fans used inside the console could be very similar to those used in the PS4, certainly not the quietest machines on the market.
