Sleeping in the latest Blockbuster, on Airbnb

Sleeping in the latest Blockbuster, on Airbnb
The latest Blockbuster, which remained stoically open until recently, will somehow survive. No more queues at the tills for the rental of VHS and DVDs though: the structure, in the town of Bend in Oregon, has been converted into an accommodation offered for a limited period by the manager on Airbnb. No information on prices at the moment, reservations will be accepted starting Monday, August 17th.

The last Blockbuster store ends up on Airbnb

It won't become a tourist destination anyway, at least it isn't this is the intention. The initiative is currently limited to only the days of 18, 19 and 20 September and open only to residents of Deschutes County. At the will of Sandi Harding, manager of the store, to celebrate a piece of history that in its own way has united the local community. Other times, other ways of entertainment.

The legacy of traditional Blockbusters, in the era of Netflix and streaming, is now collected by video libraries still present in Italy and by the Blockbuster chain Village which, however, as also stated on the official website is a “new chain”.
