EA Play was born from the merger of EA Access and Origin Access
Electronic Arts has performed a total rebrand of its subscription services, merging EA Access and Origin Access to create EA Play. The move does not involve any price change to the public and subscribers will not have to do anything to switch to the new brand, which will automatically replace the old one.

The initiative stems from the desire of Electronic Arts to make its service more recognizable, eliminating any ambiguity. The idea isn't particularly original (think of what HBO has done with its streaming channels or Microsoft's own choice for the Xbox Game Pass, which is called the same on both Xbox One and PC), but we imagine it to be effective, given how many travel it.

So EA Access and Origin Access Basic Subscriptions will simply be renamed EA Play, while Premier Subscriptions will become EA Play Pro. It also seems that in the coming months there will be other news, such as exclusive challenges linked to monthly rewards given to subscribers. There will also be bonuses for everyone such as free cosmetic items and content accessible in advance of the others, such as Ultimate Team Packs.

The transformation of EA Access and Origin Access into EA Play will take effect from August 18, 2020, that is in a very few days.
