Ericsson: 1.1 billion for Cradlepoint 5G
Ericsson announced the acquisition of US-based Cradlepoint, "market leader in 4G and 5G Wireless Edge WAN solutions for the Enterprise segment". The group presented the novelty as a fundamental piece for the group's strategies in the 5G market, as it fully complements the assets already owned by the group.

Ericsson buys Cradlepoint

The investment is equal to $ 1.1 billion: Cradlepoint will continue to operate under its own brand, keep its team intact and maintain its headquarters in Idaho. However Ericsson now has a new card on its side to play on the market, relying on a company that operates in a sector that grows double-digit annually.

Börje Ekholm, President and CEO of Ericsson explains:

Acquisitions close to the portfolio are an integral part of our previously communicated strategy. The acquisition of Cradlepoint complements our existing offerings and is critical to helping customers grow the value of their 5G network investments. Ericsson is uniquely positioned to solidify Cradlepoint's leadership position in the Wireless Edge and wireless WAN market. By combining scale capabilities and established relationships with the world's largest mobile operators, we are making a strong investment to support our customers to grow in this exciting market. I would like to extend a warm welcome to all Cradlepoint professionals.

Cradlepoint was founded in 2006 and already in 2010 began its long and fruitful collaboration with Ericsson: the partnership, which originally began with the launch of 4G in the United States becomes integration when 5G takes its first steps.
