COD Black Ops Cold War: will the PS5 and Series X upgrade be paid?
Today, Call of Duty fans were able to discover a lot of information about COD Black Ops Cold War, the new chapter in Activision's shootout saga, thanks to a huge leak. We've found out the release date and contents of the Special Edition, but there is more information to come. In fact, it seems that the upgrade to the PS5 and Xbox Series X version will not be free.

According to reports, COD Black Ops Cold War will be offered in three versions. In addition to the Ultimate Edition, which includes a whole series of bonuses, it will also be possible to purchase the Standard Edition and the Cross-Gen Edition.

The Standard Edition, as you may have guessed, is simply a basic version for PC, PlayStation 4 and Xbox One, which will include the game with nothing extra. The difference compared to other games is that the Standard Edition of COD Black Ops Cold War will not include the exclusive graphics features of PS5 and Xbox Series X. Probably you can also use this version on next-gen through backwards compatibility, but keeping the graphics of the old generation. In other words, the upgrade to the next-gen will not be free.

In order to play on PS5 and Xbox Series X with all the exclusive graphics features, you will need to purchase the Cross-Gen version. For now, the prices of the various versions are not known, but it seems highly probable that the Cross-Gen Edition will have a higher price.

Furthermore, although there is no information about it, it is possible that the upgrade it will be sold separately for anyone who purchases the Standard Edition and only decides afterwards to upgrade to PS5 and Xbox Series X. If not, players would have to buy the game twice.
