Nvidia registers trademarks 3080, 4080 and 5080 with the European Intellectual Property Office
Nvidia has registered several trademarks with the European Union Intellectual Property Office, the European Union's intellectual property office. Unsurprisingly, the registered names are related to the next generation of GPUs of the technology giant. The brands, in fact, are 3080, 4080 and 5080, as, presumably, will be called the flagship GPUs coming in the next few years.

If of a phantom 3080 that has been talking for some time, the other two are more interesting brands.

The GPU known as Hopper, at 5nm and arriving in 2022, could therefore be the GTX 4080 or the RTX 4080. As for the 5080 there are no indications, but it should not be a hardware in coming soon.

Other recorded words include NVIDIA Omniverse, Frames Win Games, NVIDIA CloudXR, NVIDIA Aerial and Kaolin. Many of these are related to video games and could therefore be new features that Nvidia will add to its bouquet of products.

All these brands have been registered at various times. The most recent is Nvidia EGX from 1 July 2020. The new generation of Nvidia GPUs should be announced next September at Gamescom 2020 or, more likely, at Computex 2020.
