Amazon bets on Italy: 1600 hires
1600 additional permanent employees: this is the figure of Amazon's bet in Italy. At a time when indecision about the future and the indeterminacy of the present make everything precarious and difficult to read, Jeff Bezos' group seems to have clear ideas and, in the wake of the experience lived during the lockdown, new resources are flowing right on our territory.

Amazon, 1600 permanent contracts

Amazon has closed 2019 with 6900 employees in Italy and will close 2020 with 8500 human resources spread over the 25 existing offices. "These new job opportunities," explains the group, "are intended for people with all types of experience, education and skill levels in areas such as software development, linguistics, logistics, human resources and IT at our Milan Business Center, the Development Centers of Turin and Asti; our Cagliari Customer Service; our Distribution Centers, Sorting Deposits and Prime Now warehouses, all over the country “.

Amazon also ensures for the quality of the workplace itself. Also in this case, the first six months of 2020 were crucial, because the logistics has been massively under pressure and there have been several cases of infection have to put at risk the flow of work. Just think for example to the fact that in the most critical moment of the curve of the pandemic in Italy, the main logistics centre for Amazon in our territory was only a few km from Codogno , one of the first epicenters of the problem. The work done in terms of prevention has allowed to carry out the operations and to ensure to the Country the delivery of those essential goods for which the marketplace has always been available.

The new jobs also offer opportunities for professional growth, a competitive compensation and a comprehensive package of benefits, including health insurance, private accident insurance, and discounts for purchases on Amazon.it to all employees. By 2019, Amazon has paid, on average, more than 17.2 million per month in remuneration and salaries to our employees in Italy.

Now the time has come to up the ante: planned 140 million euro investment for the construction of two new distribution centers (new york/San Bellino, Veneto, and Colleferro, Lazio), the fifth and the sixth of the series. Already programmed, in addition, the opening of seven new depots sorting (Catania, Cagliari, Genoa, Pisa, Brescia, Parma and Milan). Already open in the Region of the AWS cloud, thus widening the scope of the offer both to the consumers and to the reality of the business.

Amazon is a powerful engine of growth for the Italian economy. Through innovation, investment and job creation, Amazon is contributing to the digital transformation of the Country – a process that has become much more of a priority to support the economy in these challenging times. In the 10 years we have invested more than 5.8 billion Euros in the Italian economy and in its talents, employing a stable of thousands of people who receive since the first day, a competitive compensation and benefits. I am particularly proud of how our team is growing and our investment in favor of our customers and of Italian small businesses contribute to the prosperity of Italy, creating thousands of additional jobs through indirect effects and opening up new opportunities for colleagues, business partners, service providers and suppliers
