PlayStation State of Play: an insider reveals the background of the Sony events

PlayStation State of Play

The PlayStation State of Play are now a new tradition for Sony, already launched in the middle of the PS4 era and now used regularly by the company for the presentation of games and various news related to the PlayStation universe, also for PS5, so it is interesting to know how these are organized according to some guidelines, based on what an insider reported.

Millie A, alleged insider who has risen to the limelight recently for having guessed various pieces of information in advance with remarkable accuracy, such as Marvel's Wolverine announcement, which was actually unpredictable prior to Sony's own unveiling, posted on Twitter a sort of set of guidelines that seem to define how Sony organizes its State of Play, particularly as to how much concerns those dedicated to third parties, just like the next one.

We remind you that the new State of Play of October 2021 is set for Wednesday 27 October at 23:00 and will focus on third-party games, among which, according to the same insider, there could also be Hogwarts Legacy, too if it is also possible that this will instead be shown at the Game Awards 2021.

In any case, the alleged guidelines are quite plausible, which is a reason that leads us to consider them as potentially true, also because they don't really go into detail but are still interesting to get an idea of how Sony organizes. also relations with third parties on the occasions of the State of Play, although obviously taking everything as mere rumors.

In particular, we are talking about pre-contractual agreements that bind developers and publishers to Sony for some aspect of the games that makes them appear in the State of Play and the fact that a specific date is not set but the span of a week, within which the ready assets must arrive. Once everything has been organized, the event is built and edited over two weeks before it is actually broadcast and posted on PlayStation's various social channels.

PlayStation's next State of Play is set for October 27th

Sony has announced when its next State of Play stream will take place. You can watch it on October 27th at 5PM ET on Twitch or YouTube.

It'll be a short broadcast, clocking in at 20 minutes or so, but as we saw with Sony's blockbuster showcase in September, it can pack a lot into these events. The company didn't say what games will be featured nor did it rule anything out. However, the focus will be on third-party titles for PS4 and PS5.

Along with reveals from some of its partners, Sony is promising more info about previously announced games. Here's hoping for a firm release date for Bethesda and Tango Gameworks' delayed Ghostwire: Tokyo, which is scheduled for next spring. Square Enix's Forspoken is also penciled in for that timeframe, so perhaps Sony will reveal exactly when that game's coming too. And maybe, just maybe, we'll learn more about the PS5 version of Grand Theft Auto V, which is due to arrive in March.
