One of the Indian Prime Minister's profiles was hacked on Twitter

Prime Minister Narendra Modi's official website account was "hacked" by a group of cyber criminals, who then attempted to scam followers with cryptocurrency donations

Indian Prime Minister Narendra Modi (photo by Drew Angerer / Getty Images) John Wick, the notorious hitman played on the big screen by Keanu Reeves, has hacked the Twitter account of Indian Prime Minister Narendra Modi's official website. Or at least that's what the cybercriminals wrote in the last post published with the account they took over on September 3.

With a series of tweets the cybercriminals asked the followers of the Indian prime minister to donate cryptocurrencies to a bogus fund for the Covid-19 emergency. The link diverted donations directly into the pockets of the attackers.

The Prime Minister's website account has more than 2.5 million followers, while Modi's official account (who had no problems) exceeds 61 million followers. The attack, similar to the one that recently hit several Twitter accounts of celebrities such as Barack Obama, Jeff Bezos, Bill Gates, Elon Musk or companies like Apple or Uber, would have occurred thanks to login credentials with administrative privileges stolen from collaborators Prime Minister of India, who managed his profile by tweeting on his behalf.
