Android, verified calls tell us why a company is calling
It is called "verified calls", the new function of the Phone app announced by Google which has the task of showing information about the company that is calling. In this way, the Mountain View giant tries to safeguard users from scam calls or - at least - to provide the user with more details before answering.

How does it work? When we receive a call from a company, the name of the company will appear on the screen with its logo, a symbol that confirms that it is a verified call and even the reason for the call itself. To be classified as a verification call, the company concerned must send a series of data to Google.

As you can read on the support page, before the call the company sends the telephone number of the activity, the number of the recipient and the reason for the call. This information is then sent to the Phone app installed on the smartphone. When the sender initiates the call, the device compares the information on the incoming call with what Google has received from the business. If there is a match, the phone call is shown as verified. Big-G ensures that information is deleted from the server within minutes of verification.

Depending on how companies use it, this feature could prove to be very useful. Not only to help us avoid spam calls, but also to let us know if it is an important call or not. The function has been tested in Brazil and will make its debut right here, as well as in the United States, Spain, Mexico and India and then arrive in other countries in the following weeks.

In this regard, the Google Phone app is available for Android Go and Android One smartphones and will also arrive on Samsung and LG devices in the coming weeks.
