With this statement, the American large-scale retail chain has revealed its intention to buy the social network owned by the Chinese ByteDance, a startup valued at around 75 billion dollars, forced to sell TikTok by an order of Donald Trump.

It is the latest twist in a "soap opera" that already sees four American companies suitors for the short video platform: Microsoft, Netflix, Oracle and Twitter. Eventually, ByteDance could sell TikTok's US division along with those of Canada, Australia and New Zealand in a $20-30 billion deal, according to CNBC. He just wouldn't have chosen who yet, and while TikTok CEO Kevin Mayer stepped down three months after office the other day, it looks like the decision could come in a matter of days.

Walmart he therefore admitted contacts with Microsoft to conduct the deal. "The way in which TikTok has integrated ecommerce functions and advertisements in other markets is a clear advantage for creators and users in those markets," the company explains. We believe that a potential relationship with TikTok Us in partnership with Microsoft can add this key functionality and provide Walmart with an important way both to reach consumers omnichannel, and to develop third-party marketplaces and advertising strategies.
