Tomie (Junji Ito) chosen the protagonist of the TV series
Deadline reports that Quibi has chosen the protagonist for the TV adaptation of Tomie, the horror manga by Junji Ito published in Italy by J-Pop.

Tomie Kawakami will be played by Adeline Rudolph already seen in The Terrifying Adventures of Sabrina. The Ito manga has inspired 8 films in Japan while the western adaptation will consist of episodes of 10 minutes each as a Quibi format designed for mobile devices such as mobiles and tablets.

Tomie, the TV series, will be directed by Alexandre Aja (The Hills Have Eyes, Crawl - Trapped) on a screenplay by David Leslie Johnson-McGoldrick (Aquaman) and produced by Sony Pictures Television and UCP, a division of Universal Studio Group.

This the first description of the TV series:

A beautiful high school girl disappears and pieces of her body are found scattered throughout the small town. What appears to be the mystery behind a brutal murder gradually becomes something more gruesome.

The manga was launched by sensei Ito back in 1987 and has already enjoyed, as mentioned above, a series of eight live action films and also an animated transposition included in the 2018 Junji Ito Collection available on Crunchyroll.

The manga instead as mentioned was published by J-Pop in Italy.

Here is a brief synopsis:

Tomie is a woman capable of seducing and corrupting men's minds, dragging them into a spiral of madness. Tomie is not afraid of death, since nothing can kill her. Tomie comes back to life to take revenge, forever, without mercy. Prepare to sink into an abyss of terror.

A little curiosity: at the origin of the manga there is a fact that really happened to Junji Ito, namely the tragic death of one of his classmates in a road accident and the subsequent questioning whether one day the boy had suddenly returned to class.
