Fans have asked for it and 2K Sports has obviously satisfied them: Kobe Bryant, the Lakers star who disappeared in a tragic accident a few months ago, will be on the cover of the MBA Forever Edition of NBA 2K21. NBA 2K21 will be available for the current generation of consoles starting September 4, 2020, while for PlayStation 5 and Xbox Series X at launch.

The Black Mamba will join Lillard in the standard edition of the game and Zion Williamson in that Ps5 and Xbox Series X.

"We are combining all our experience and development expertise to create the best possible game. For PlayStation 5 and Xbox Series X we are building the game from scratch, to make the most of the power and technology of the next generation."

For NBA 2K21, the Legend Edition is replaced by the Mamba Forever Edition, a tribute to celebrate Kobe Bryant's career and legacy. For many fans around the world, Kobe's achievements on the pitch and the love of the game have had a huge impact and his list of awards and accolades is incredible: five times NBA champion, 18 times NBA All-Star, two times MVP of the NBA finals, 2008 NBA MVP, 11 times First Team All-NBA, 9 times First Team NBA All-Defensive, twice best scorer NBA, 2008 and 2012 Olympic Gold Medalist, all-time top scorer of the Los Angeles Lakers and much more. Kobe was the cover athlete for NBA 2K10, the Legend Edition of NBA 2K17 and is immortalized in the NBA 2K21 Mamba Forever Edition with unique personalized covers both for the current version and for the next generation, which honor his career, from days with the number 8 scoring 81 points in a game up to 60 points in the farewell game wearing the number 24.
