Is he the author of yesterday's attack on Twitter?
Using every conditional at the moment is a must, at least until the investigation into the case has led to a certain outcome, but check the name of the possible person responsible for the attack on Twitter made on the night between Wednesday and Thursday compromising several high accounts profile and publishing in their name posts containing a Bitcoin scam: it is that of the 21 year old British Joseph James Connor, known on the online boards as PlugWalkJoe.

Who is PlugWalkJoe (Joseph James Connor) Brian Krebs of KrebsOnSecurity reported on the basis of what was reported by the security team of one of the main US operators. PlugWalkJoe has already ended up in the crosshairs of the authorities since it is believed to have been the author of several scams carried out in the context of crypto. Member of the ChucklingSquad group capable of puncturing the profile of CEO Jack Dorsey last year, he is originally from Liverpool, but at the moment he would be in Spain where he is completing a university course.

The attack seems to have been scored by reaching out to the administration tools managed by the internal Twitter team. One or more staff members would therefore have previously been subject to a SIM swapping action. The author would thus have been able to associate an email address in his control to the accounts to be violated, changing the password and finally authenticating himself with the new credentials and then publishing posts such as the following.

Affected, among others, Elon Musk, Bill Gates, Jeff Bezos, Barack Obama, Joe Biden, Kanye West and Mike Bloomberg, but also companies like Apple, Uber, Coinbase and Gemini. An analysis of the wallet's Bitcoin estimated at the equivalent of about 117,000 dollars, the value of the criptovaluta paid in 24 hours on one of the wallets used by those who have fallen into the trap, through a total of 392 transactions.
