Facebook challenges YouTube: music videos arrive on Watch

From August the video clips of singers and bands will be automatically uploaded to the social network by virtue of an agreement with the record labels

According to reports from Tech Crunch, all music artists who have a page on Facebook received a communication from Menlo Park informing them of a new setting to add their music videos to their profile from the following month. Twitter's social media leaked to Twitter and Matt Navarra, a social network consultant, gave her more exposure.

This setting will automatically create a section dedicated to official videos of the artists, without having to be uploaded manually: Facebook will be allowed to collect them, drawing on its official works and collaborations with other colleagues. Obviously the artists will have full control of the videos and can decide to edit or remove the material. You can change the title and description, add tags and edit the thumbnails of the preview.

The new function is the result of an agreement with the record labels : when they will publish the video clips of a singer or a band, the social network will now obtain it in virtue of a licence. The goal is to optimize the time and reach directly into the feeds of the followers. And, for Facebook, to keep you glued to their platform the fans of the singers. For Bloomberg, the major record labels are looking for an alternative to YouTube because it wouldn't pay enough royalties on the video clips . The recent agreements between Menlo Park and the us major record labels prepared to counter TikTok have opened the way to the new frontier.
