In the last few hours, Netflix has released a new trailer with a key visual dedicated to La Vetta degli Dei (Kamigami no Itadaki), an animated film of Franco-Luxembourg production and based on the manga of the same name written and drawn by the late Jiro Taniguchi.

Let's start with the key visual:

As reported in our previous article, La Vetta degli Dei will arrive on Netflix on November 30, after being presented at the last Cannes Film Festival and after its release in French cinemas on September 22 with the title Le Sommet des Dieux.

And here is the new trailer:

The film was directed by Patrick Imber t, former director of Ernest & Celestine, and written by Imbert himself together with Magali Pouzol and Jean-Charles Ostorero. The artistic direction is David Coquard-Dassault (Peripheria), while the music for the film is signed by Amine Bouhafa. Distribution in France has been handled by Diaphana Distribution, while the foreign rights are in the hands of Wild Bunch International. Didier Brunner (The Triplets of Belleville, Kirikou and the Sorceress) is credited as producer of the film.

About the manga and a synopsis of La Vetta degli Dei

The manga de La Vetta degli Dei is one of the most appreciated by the late Jiro Taniguchi, who passed away in February 2017. In 2001 he was awarded the Excellence Prize at the Japan Media Arts Festival, and was awarded at the Angouleme Festival in 2005 as Best Art Award.

The story follows the adventures of Fukamachi, a wildlife photographer who finds a link to the past in Kathmandu, Nepal. Fukamachi finds a camera allegedly belonging to George Mallory, a missing mountaineer on Mount Everest. After meeting Habu Joji, a well-known climber with a great passion for the mountains, the two set off together to discover the secrets of a history that seems lost.

The manga series of Taniguchi, also an adaptation of the novel by Baku Yumemakura, has been serialized on Business Jump for Shueisha and in Italy it has been published in 5 full-bodied volumes by Rizzoli Lizard, purchased here the 1st on Amazon.
