TikTok, ban in the USA slips again: Trump celebrates the agreement with Oracle and Walmart
The ban of TikTok in the United States, feared by some and hoped for by others, slips again. For the umpteenth time something has changed on the intricate chessboard of agreements, and it is time to take stock of the situation again on the news.

First of all, it is good to underline how President Trump has rethought it: the definitive ban of TikTok in the USA should have entered into force today, 20 September 2020, also involving WeChat. Instead, it will postpone by a week, precisely to next 27 September 2020; but it doesn't really seem like TikTok's fate is so bleak anymore. A week should be enough to reach an understanding between the parties involved (Trump, the American companies, ByteDance).

An agreement between the developers of ByteDance (who created TikTok a few years ago), Oracle and now Walmart also seems to be upon us; so much so that Trump praised it. Oracle could become TikTok's technology partner in the United States, Walmart the commercial one. "It will be a fantastic deal and I have already given my blessing" declared President Trump, who since last August 2020 had personally intervened in the negotiations between private individuals, initially - it seems - favoring an agreement between Microsoft and TikTok, then skipped.

The deal, praised by a particularly optimistic President Trump, will allow the creation of 25,000 jobs in the United States. Furthermore, it seems that the new app, while continuing to be called TikTok, will have nothing to do with China, and will thus be "100% safe".

Perhaps the story will end with the scenario that there we have just illustrated, but you never know: some last-minute unforeseen event could still ruin the plans of Trump and Oracle. For now, however, the TikTok ban no longer seems so imminent. What do you think will happen?
