Spotify's podcasts will be adapted for film and TV
Spotify has announced that it has signed a new agreement with Chernin Entertainment to develop original movies and TV series based on podcasts hosted on the music streaming platform. With this agreement Chernin Entertainment, the production company of films such as Le Mans '66 - The Great Challenge and The Greatest Showman, will have access to a library of more than 250 Spotify Originals from all over the world.

Somewhere in fact, the music platform has in fact decided to focus on podcasts as a distinctive point of its offer. For Chief Content and Advertising Business Officer Dawn Ostroff this strategy is due to the company's intention to support the work of creators around the world, while offering all subscribers of the service a place to find quality original IPs. br>
The collaboration with Chernin Entertainment will bear its first fruits in the near future, however the production house has already begun to select the contents of the platform starting to work on the adaptation of the podcast series The Clearing.

The Clearing is a crime podcast based on the life of April Balascio, daughter of serial killer Edward Wayne Edwards. Raised unaware of her father's criminal activity, at the age of 40 Balascio discovers the truth about her parent by having him arrested. The podcast narrated by Josh Dean thus explores Balascio's emotional journey and offers an insight into his childhood.

Born in the early 2000s, podcasts are nothing more than the recording of an audio broadcast that could be downloaded and listened to everywhere thanks to the greater diffusion of mp3 players. Podcast thus becomes an umbrella term under which all those recorded broadcasts find their place, ranging from reruns of radio episodes to the recording of university lectures up to talk shows or role play sessions.

This agreement, however, is not the first to bring podcasts to a wider audience by becoming original material for adaptations for the small and large screen, among the titles that have seen a new incarnation in another medium we can mention Homecoming and The Horror of Dolores Roach by Prime Video and The Two Princes for HBO Max.
