PS5, other titles coming from Japan

PS5, other titles coming from Japan
After the last Playstation Showcase, in which we learned about the price and the PS5 launch line-up, there is a lot of information that has actually been released in the form of an interview or a press release on the Playstation Blog. Sony Interactive Entertainment President Jim Ryan spoke today about the relationship with Japanese developers with local outlet AV Watch. Ryan argued the importance of pursuing a close relationship with Japanese publishers by mentioning that not only in the latest PlayStation 5 showcase, but also during the one in June, many games were featured from Japan.

He also added that there are many others. He admitted that many Japanese developers and publishers thought about pursuing mobile as their main platform five or six years ago, but in the last couple of years they have returned to consoles and PlayStation in particular. According to Ryan, this is an industry-wide trend. He also added that Sony continues to actively negotiate with major Japanese publishers to build a good relationship with them. PlayStation has a great relationship with companies like Koei Tecmo, Square Enix and Capcom. It has been an important strategic goal for Sony to have a close relationship with all Japanese publishers.

Japanese developers have been a little slow in embracing the PS4 and the fact that the console has been launched locally for several months after that it certainly didn't help. This time around, Sony's home territory is among the first countries to get their hands on PS5. Meanwhile, these days we are really taken by what is happening around Sony especially in the controversy over the prices of titles on PS5.
