Google Drive: Only 30 days for files in the trash
Today the Mountain View group announces a news regarding Google Drive that all users of the service should be aware of: starting from next month the files in the recycle bin will be automatically and permanently deleted after 30 days. Take this into account if you rely on bigG's cloud platform for storage and sharing.

Google Drive: get rid of files forever after 30 days

The new policy, communicated through the pages of the official blog, it aligns the service with what the competition is already doing. Those who are not inclined to manually clean up their virtual disk will benefit as the storage quota associated with their account will be gradually freed up without requiring any direct intervention. Within the next few weeks, mobile applications and the desktop interface will show a warning notification. Here is what we read in the official guide.

Starting from October 13, 2020, Google Drive files will be permanently deleted after they have been in the recycle bin for 30 consecutive days.

The rollout will last about 15 days. Google thus chooses to align Drive to what is already happening with other products of the group starting with Gmail. Exceptions are files managed through Vault, which is included in the Enterprise, Business, Education, and Essentials editions of G Suite. Administrators will still have an additional 25 days to retrieve content that has disappeared from active user accounts.
