Sword and Shield Pokémon: Lone Isle of Armor DLC preview

Index Armor Island: a new rival Dojo and side quest Certainties and Doubts Growth: this is the password around which the first part of the Pokémon Sword and Shield Expansion Pass revolves. During the presentation of the Solitary Isle of Armor DLC, in fact, The Pokémon Company insisted a lot on this aspect, highlighting how this new content is designed to help players create their own team. An addition aimed at competitive, in short, PvP, where exploration will be present, but it will not be as central as Landa Corona, the second part of the pass which, apparently, will see us grappling with the most relevant contents under this point of view.

Starting from these premises, we saw the first thirty minutes of gameplay on the Armor Island, even if at the end of the streaming presentation we turned off the PC with more doubts than certainties, and a lot curiosity for all those elements that still remain shrouded in mystery.

Armor Island: a new rival We arrive on Armor Island via Volotaxi: no submarine trains therefore, and it seems confirmed that the stopover station of our journey, which we already knew would leave on the tracks, will in no way be visited. The landing in the new area is quite lively: after updating the Pokédex to make it possible to recognize and capture the new species present on the island, we are immediately "greeted" by Sofora (Savory in Pokémon Shield) and by a first battle to poison. The rival of the first part of the pass for Sword, in fact, specializes in this type of Pokémon (Savory, however, will be a master of the psycho type). The challenge does not seem particularly demanding, given the girl does not have fully evolved monsters at this stage, but already in this first encounter we can realize a small, fundamental, detail: the level of difficulty of the DLC.

Although the Pokémon of the player were between level 45 and 70, then in full endgame, those of Sofora were between 58 and 60; and the same goes for all the monsters encountered in the first half hour on the island. The Pokémon Company has assured us that the equal of the Wild Lands of the games, where the level rises according to progression of the player, the DLC could be dealt with at any time, provided you have achieved for the first time the "wild area". Then, already after the first few sections of the game. Instead, what has not been fully clarified is whether what we saw was the level of challenge's maximum, from the content: the representatives of the Means we have said that yes, the difficulty should climb even to the top, but we do not know up to that point and if there will be differences for those who, like most of the players of the day one will have, by now his entire team to level 100.

anyway, we can confirm that in this first phase there are no restrictions on Pokémon you can use: which is a pity for those who had hoped for a content that confusing and challenging right from the start.

the Dojo, and side quests The clash with Sofora introduces us to what will be a central structure of the Island of the Armor, or the dojo of master Mustard . It is from here that starts all the effects of the adventure of the DLC and it is here that we discover some of the new contents of the pass. Without revealing details about the plot, of which we know very little, the encounter with the Mustard we take you to explore the island to pass a test and carry out different tasks, both directly connected to the story, is related to some new mechanics are introduced just with in the pass. In the dojo, or immediately outside, for example, we will be introduced to the Zuppamax and methods to make this dish, capable of making gigamaxizzare also the Pokémon that originally could not; we will be called upon to make some important choices, of which, however, we cannot speak; we will get the new customizations to the bike; and, in addition, we will begin to hunt for the Pokémon-specific, in a kind of mission collection reminiscent, in small, one linked to the cells of Zygarde in Pokémon Sun and Moon.

Unfortunately, however, the presentation has provided us with many other details: we have not been able to achieve the Soup or to understand what is exactly meant with the term "pokémon with great potential," date from the official website; we have not had specific information on the use of the Cramobot on the way and will give us new objects, starting from those that no longer serve us; we have not used the Rocciarmatura to learn a new move; we had no way to clarify if there will be or less the dungeon complex, even if the brief images of some of the cave made us think of the roads as an alternative to the, often linear, which leads to an exit; and we have not discovered even more about the so-called Limited Trial or on towers where train Kubfu in view of its evolution in Urshifu. To go into all these details will have to wait for the release of the first part of the Pass Expansion, scheduled for 17 June 2020.

What emerged from our first meeting with the Pass Expansion is that this first part may be a simple appetizer, in anticipation of the dish is represented, from the Lands of snow-Capped Crown, coming next fall. They are still too many question marks to have a clear idea of what to expect from this adventure on the Island of the Armor: the only thing that is certain is that many new elements will be designed to facilitate still more the breeding of Pokémon competitive, you want that we speak of objects to increase the experience obtained as the Amulet PE, you want to think of tools as the Cramobot or Zuppamax.

we'll know more in a couple of days, when we will be able to put your hands together with you on the full version of this first part of the Pass.
