Nvidia loves the low end: two more GTX 1650s coming soon

It seems that Nvidia can release two other variants of the GeForce GTX 1650. The leaker momomo_us has discovered that support has been added to AIDA64 for two new unpublished variants of the aforementioned card, for a total of four models.

The first GeForce GTX 1650 is based on TU117, offers 896 CUDA cores and 4GB of 8Gbps GDDR5 memory on a 128-bit bus. About a year later, Nvidia introduced the GeForce GTX 1650 GDDR6 which implements 12Gbps VRAM GDDR6. The latter boasts lower frequencies, but the new generation of memory has ensured a memory bandwidth greater than 50% and higher performance of about 14%, compared to the classic version.

And it does not end there. The latest AIDA64 update introduces two new variants: GeForce GTX 1650 TU116 and GeForce GTX 1650 TU106. The nomenclature of the SKU suggests that both will implement VRAM GDDR6, but different die. The TU116 SKU is in fact used for the GeForce GTX 16XX series GPUs, including GTX 1650 Super, GTX 1660, GTX 1660 Super and GTX 1660 Ti. TU106, on the other hand, is used for the GeForce RTX 2000 series models, such as GeForce RTX 2060, RTX 2060 Super and RTX 2070, therefore it houses Tensor cores and RT cores.

Probably Nvidia is simply taking advantage of the chip “discarded” from the production of better-performing models, because they do not meet the requirements and specifications, the new GeForce GTX 1650. Why focus on just this model? According to the survey of Steam (may 2020), Nvidia GeForce GTX 1650 is the fifth graphics card the most popular among the players of the well-known platform.

The proposed low-end Amps not coming very soon; usually, the company introduces the first variants of high-end and, after several months, the proposals from the lowest price. It is rumored that the hypothetical RTX 3080 and RTX 3090 will debut at the end of September, the models of low-end Amps should be out in Q2 2021.
