Payday 3, many official news on settings and gameplay

Payday 3

Eight years after the release of the second chapter, it is more than legitimate that those who loved him are looking forward to Payday 3. Overkill has shown that it is more than capable of supporting its productions in the long term, and a base of users who are always active and loyal to Payday 2 is proof of this. Despite the continuous updates released for the second chapter, the software house is still actively working on the next game in the series.

Until a few hours ago we only knew that Overkill aims to release Payday 3 during 2023, but a recent one live held by the developers has revealed some interesting information on the title in the works. Although some gameplay sequences have not been shown, Overkill explained that Payday 3 will be set in New York and that the robberies will have a much more modern and technologically advanced setting than the second chapter. This, to make the work current and to implement some new gameplay dynamics.

Specifically, Overkill explained that in Payday 3 we will have gadgets suitable for cryptocurrency robberies and for surfing the dark web. This could mean that we could use those same cryptocurrencies to buy weapons or equipment on the dark web, before entering a robbery. We also know that we will have more access to surveillance cameras, which could result in the ability to monitor hostages more efficiently.

The premises of Payday 3 are really very interesting, now that we have more concrete confirmations of the more modern direction than the one taken eight years ago by Payday 2. We therefore look forward to further news from Overkill, which is is showing really excited about what they are accomplishing with their new title, as are the players. ‘Payday 3’ is set in New York and brings back the original gang

Starbreeze has given fans a small tease of upcoming heist-shooter Payday 3 during a livestream. The game is set to release in 2023.

New details have emerged about the upcoming heisting game Payday 3. The game will be set in New York, which Starbreeze (via Eurogamer) describes as a “living, enormous representation of the city”.

“One game changer: the media is now covering the gang, their exploits… and who knows what might come from that…”

Starbreeze continued to say, “In the meantime, the world of Payday has transitioned into the digital age, with software giants, crypto currencies, mass surveillance and the Dark Web all playing a role in the gang’s new gadgets, challenges and opportunities.”

Payday 3 is set several years after Payday 2, and the original crew from Payday 1 has been forced back into a life of heisting. Players will return to the shoes of Dallas, Hoxton, Chains, and Wolf for the upcoming release.

Earlier this year, Starbreeze said that they were not intending to rush out Payday 3. As such it has a broad launch window of 2023. At the time, Starbreeze CEO Tobias Sjögren said, “time is what you</a> need to make a game good.”

“The whole trend in the industry now is that you don’t necessarily release another box in two to three years […] but rather deliver to customers and enhance their experience in the game where you already have them,” Sjögren said. “And that makes total sense, especially with digital distribution – it’s a much better way of doing business and servicing your customers.”

In late 2020, Starbreeze confirmed that Payday 3 was still in the design phase and is being created in Unreal Engine.
