Xbox: Microsoft announces Digital Direct instead of download codes in bundles

Surprisingly, Microsoft has announced Digital Direct functionality for Xbox consoles, which will be used in particular for hardware bundles, which will no longer include any code to redeem the included digital games.

How does it work? During the configuration of the new console, the contents and service offers associated with the latter (such as games included and Xbox LIVE Gold trial or Game Pass subscriptions) will appear ready to be redeemed. Just select the Redeem item to redeem all the products, once the operation is complete, the contents will appear in the My games and applications section. Alternatively, you can redeem everything later at a later time.

Redeem in your Account Select Settings, Accounts and subsequently Included with this Xbox to view the status relating to the redemption of all content included with the console.

Redeem in the My Library section Press the Xbox button to open the guide, select My games and apps, then Complete library and finally Console offers to view the list.

The first bundle to exploit the Digital Direct feature will be the Xbox One X Cyberpunk 2077 Limited Edition package, already available for purchase with the digital game included, a product that can only be redeemed from September 17, the official release date of the CD Projekt RED title.

At the moment it is not clear if Digital Direct will also work with Xbox Series X since Microsoft generically speaks of "new consoles" without direct references, all in all likelihood the new system will also be adopted for bundles of the next-gen console.
