Paramount Plus: how it works and how to see it

Paramount Plus

Paramount Plus, Paramount Global's streaming service, debuts today in Italy. Users will be able to take advantage of a special launch promo: only for the first eleven days (from 15 to 25 September), Paramount Plus will be available at 4.99 euros per month for 12 months with a 7-day trial period. It will be possible to cancel at any time, without constraints. The promo will be available only on paramountplus.it and iOS.

The new service will bring with it well over 8,000 hours of entertainment for the whole family, with the best of major international titles and original Italian productions. This is an expansion of the SVOD service that will not only stop in Italy but will also involve France, Germany, Switzerland, and Austria where Paramount + will arrive in December.

What is Paramount Plus?

Paramount + was born on March 4, 2021 as a rebrand of CBS All Access, a live streaming TV subscription service launched by CBS in 2014 mainly in the United States. Since then, however, it has become a strong competitor to Netflix, Prime Video, and Disney + by offering plenty of noteworthy original content. Paramount +, over time, has begun to enjoy great public acclaim (in September 2022 it will reach 45 global markets) is unique because it offers content from the combined ViacomCBS network, which includes properties such as Paramount, Nickelodeon, MTV, BET and Comedy Central. In addition, ViacomCBS also owns the free streaming service Pluto TV and the Showtime network and of the latter you will be able to exclusively observe many contents only on Paramount +.

Costs and operation

There will therefore be productions made by other companies ( such as Showtime, CBS, MTV, Comedy Central and Paramount Pictures) and premium content produced in our country. Among the most anticipated titles will be Tulsa King with Sylvester Stallone, the Italian Paramount + Original series Corpo Libero, the exclusive Italian production Circeo and two new series from the Star Trek universe including Star Trek: Strange New Worlds and Star Trek: Prodigy . "Small" technical data waiting to find out what will officially happen in Italy: currently in the United Kingdom the streaming of content is limited to a maximum resolution Full HD (1080p) and with 5.1 Dolby surround sound, while in the United States premium subscribers have access to some shows and films in 4K HDR (Dolby Vision) and Dolby Atmos. Furthermore, the download for offline viewing of the contents is only possible through the Paramount + app, although limited to 25 titles, it is possible to create separate profiles (up to six), including those for children with age lock and there is the possibility to perform up to three simultaneous streams.

The cost of the streaming service will be € 7.99 per month with a 7-day trial period and the possibility to cancel at any time. It will also be possible to take out an annual subscription at a cost of € 79.90, also in this case there is a 7-day trial period and the possibility of canceling at any time. Paramount Plus will also be available on Sky, as part of the new multi-year agreement at European level. Thanks to this agreement, Sky subscribers with Sky Cinema will be able to access the contents of the platform from 23 September at no additional cost. From the same date, the Paramount Plus app will also be available on Sky Q and Sky Glass.
