Xbox Series X | S: Dolby Vision available for Insider users, soon for everyone

Xbox Series X | S

Xbox Series X | S now support Dolby Vision also for Insider users, or the feature is preparing to reach the mass audience after this further step, with Dolby being made available to everyone probably with one of the next system updates. .

Microsoft consoles are the only ones to offer official support for Dolby Vision and Dolby Atmos, through an exclusive partnership with the company specialized in processing video and audio standards linked to the Xbox Series X and Series S. The feature has been announced some time ago but while Dolby Atmos is already available on Xbox One, Dolby Vision is new and is being introduced right now.

In March, the first games with Dolby Vision support had already appeared for users in the alpha test ring, the fact that this has now been sported to the Xbox Insiders represents a further step towards the full release of the feature for all users, which should happen in the coming weeks.

Obviously, it is also necessary to have a TV or a monitor capable of supporting Dolby Vision, a standard which is however now quite widespread among modern TVs. In that case, the option for Dolby Vision will add to the toggle or disable features in the Xbox Series X | S options panel.

Dolby Vision is basically a new type of advanced HDR, a system that works with a high dynamic range of brightness and color and which makes a better management of contrasts and therefore of the graphic rendering in general. Compared to normal HDR10, Dolby Vision dynamically handles graphic metadata, which should result in general improvements in luminance, black levels, contrast and color saturation. Last October, Dolby Vision and Dolby Atmos showed up in a teaser trailer.
