The Mandalorian and a tribute to an ... action figure
The season premiere of the second season of The Mandalorian was, as expected, chock full of easter-eggs dedicated to the world of Star Wars and beyond. Among these, one is certainly unique because it is dedicated to an action figure, one of the rarest dedicated to the franchise.

Warning the following news contains spoilers for the first episode of The Mandalorian Season 2!

Arriving on Tattoine, the Mandalorian makes a precarious alliance with the "sheriff" Cobb Vanth. He is in possession of a Mandalorian armor and, twice, uses the rocket of his jet pack by bending into a decidedly unnatural position. It is actually a tribute to a very rare Boba Fett figure that Kenner should have produced in 1976 but which remained only a prototype as the rocket was considered dangerous and the figure was never made.

There are very few prototypes in circulation of this very particular figure which in fact is one of the most coveted pieces by collectors. The last of these rare specimens reappeared in June 2020 and sold for a whopping $ 225,000 on ebay!
