Nintendo Switch, May 2021: the best games of the month

Nintendo Switch, May 2021

Nintendo Switch returns to offer us a very interesting month, given that in May 2021 completely new experiences make their debut on the hybrid console and others that return from the past, such as Shin Megami Tensei 3: Nocturne HD Remaster and Famicom Detective Club.

It is actually a re-edition of Miitopia too, with its Miis engaged in an adventure with clear fantasy connotations, while peculiar and funny titles such as Maneater and SnowRunner arrive from the other platforms.

Famicom Detective Club: The Missing Heir & The Girl Who Stands Behind

Famicom Detective Club: The Missing Heir & The Girl Who Stands Behind, one of the many dialogues in the game. Out May 14

Famicom Detective Club: The Missing Heir & The Girl Who Stands Behind is the curious remake of two visual novels originally published on NES (Famicom, in fact) in the late 1980s but never released outside the Japanese borders. In recent years, however, this sub-genre adventure has also taken hold in the West, and so Nintendo has decided to brush up on the games in question.

As the title suggests, we are talking about a detective story in which, at the to recover the memory by working together with a famous investigator, we will have the task of investigating two different cases, discovering new clues to write down in the inevitable notebook and gradually approaching the truth.

SnowRunner

SnowRunner, one of the vehicles featured in the game. Out May 18th

Pavel Zagrebelny's latest creature also arrives on Nintendo Switch this month, with its load of heavy vehicles, snow-covered roads and logistical problems to be solved on the fly. SnowRunner is this and much more: a mix of suggestive scenarios and powerful engines, sense of direction and driving skills. Elements that blend in the context of a slightly niche experience that will not fail to thrill you.

From the transport of wood to the materials necessary for the construction of a bridge, from the mud and water of a terrible flood in the frozen lands of Siberia, we will have to deal with the roughness of the current scenario, choose the most suitable roads for the vehicle we are driving and find the solution to problems that are becoming more complex every time.

Miitopia

Miitopia, the four heroic Miis protagonists of the adventure. Released on May 21st

Almost four years after the portable version for Nintendo 3DS, Miitopia makes its debut in May also on Nintendo Switch with an edition enriched and enhanced in many ways. The starting idea, however, is the same: we will have to create a team of Miis based on the people we know and involve them in an adventure with distinctly fantasy features.

The Duke of Evil has in fact stolen the face of the inhabitants of Miitopia and our task will be to recover them, starting on a mission that will see us explore surprising scenarios, discover mysterious treasures and face increasingly cunning and dangerous opponents, choosing the most suitable classes for the characters that make up our party.

Maneater

Maneater, our attacking shark. Out May 25th

Tripwire Interactive's latest action RPG, Maneater puts us in charge of a very special character, a shark! Against the backdrop of a large open underwater world that can be freely explored, we will follow the life of this deadly predator, hunting new prey to feed us and facing increasingly complex tasks, including challenging boss fights.

The completion of the missions us will allow us to obtain useful points for the strengthening of our shark, in the context of an experience that immediately offers a very strong black humor, putting us in contact with a whole series of crazy situations. The end result is a peculiar and funny title, gory but funny in its own way.

Shin Megami Tensei 3: Nocturne HD Remaster

Out May 25

Edition Remastered of the iconic RPG released by Atlus in 2003, Shin Megami Tensei 3: Nocturne HD Remaster engages us again in the disturbing story of an apocalypse that destroys Tokyo and transforms it into something different: a scenario inhabited by few survivors, by spirits of those who died during the Conception and from fearsome demons.

At the command of an anonymous and silent protagonist, we will have to face the many pitfalls of this new world together with some companions and make a difference within the clash that is consuming itself between gods and creatures of the underworld, fighting our enemies in a particularly multifaceted turn-based system full of strategic elements.
