Ecovacs Deebot Ozmo T8 Pure: with TrueMapping and TrueDetect it's another world

Ecovacs Deebot Ozmo T8 Pure

After trying different models of the Ecovacs robot vacuum cleaner series, we have now learned about the quality of its Deebots. Today I'll tell you something more about the latest model that came here to test: Ecovacs Deebot Ozmo T8 Pure.

The most important innovations introduced in T8 Pure, compared to the models seen in the past, are certainly the TrueMapping functions and 3D TrueDetect which, put together, create a real gem in terms of cleaning at home.

In addition to this, the robot is equipped with all the specifications and technologies characteristic of the highest range of products of this kind. In addition to having four adjustment levels also for washing floors, Deebot T8 Pure aspires with as many power levels, is able to easily map and memorize multiple floors, bypasses and avoids obstacles and has a 5200 mAh battery that guarantees an autonomy of just under 3 hours.

Ecovacs Deebot Ozmo T8 Pure is available until May 19th at 439 € on Amazon.

As mentioned, however, what really makes the difference compared to the models seen so far, are the laser mapping and detection technologies implemented on board.

How it's made

Ecovacs Deebot Ozmo T8 Pure has a very similar structure to its lower-end brothers, it has a circular body with a diameter of 35.3 and a height of 9 centimeters, compact enough to fit under beds, sofas and furniture (although, with my sofa specifically, go to the hair). The upper part is made of white glossy plastic and interrupted only by the start button and the classic turret with laser sensor for tracking.

After trying the N8 + model, finding the glossy white finish is like taking a step back, the dust is certainly less noticeable than the black, but still remains much more than the matte finish.

The dust compartment is hidden under the body and remains very easy to remove for the classic maintenance of the robot. Together with this, we find the power switch and the button for coupling with the network, plus a small comb for manual cleaning of the filter during emptying.

The underside is where the most sensors for mapping and recognizing the surfaces and the gradients to be overcome. In addition to this, all the brushes, the connectors for the charging base, as well as the small water tank to be used for the washing function are also located here.

On the front, instead, we find the additional sensors for the TrueDetect 3D function, able to recognize obstacles more precisely, even the smallest ones, so as to avoid them without problems.

Ecovacs Deebot Ozmo T8 Pure comes with a rather standard equipment. In addition to the robot and its base, the package includes: a series of washing cloths (5 disposable cloths and one washable / reusable), the side brushes to be attached to the robot for classic cleaning (with a spare), two filters for the dust compartment and an instruction manual.

How it works

To use the Ecovacs Deebot Ozmo T8 Pure robot at 100%, as for most of the robots of this like, you need to use the Ecovacs Home application that I have already praised you several times in previous articles.

I have been using it in my daily life for several months now, combined with my Deebot Ozmo 920, and I have become an admirer . Through Ecovacs Home you have access to all the modes of our T8 Pure: you can choose one or more areas to clean through a personalized selection or depending on the room we want to clean, you can set the intensity of the suction or the flow of water. water for cleaning, erecting real virtual walls that our Deebot will not be able to pass, as well as many functions and settings such as programming a series of routines or starting a reminder when it comes time to change the filter or the cloth.

With Ecovacs T8 Pure it is also possible to select a double cleaning, so that, in total autonomy, once the first cleaning cycle is finished, it carries out a second one immediately afterwards. A function that is felt a little lacking for the other lower-end models.

The "first pass" is essential to recognize and recreate a real map of all the rooms in the house or plane on which the robot is positioned. Once done then, you have access to the different routines and customizations of your cleaning.

Here the TrueMapping technology shows itself in all its glory. Being able to compare a mid-range model with this T8 Pure, I could really notice the difference between this system and the one I'm used to in my classic use (a demonstration image below). The robot scans the environments much more precisely and creates a much smoother map than other models without this technology, recognizing the "real obstacles" even more easily and bringing them back to the map.

How his brothers, the T8 Pure also warns you by voice (in the language of your choice) of its actions and can be easily controlled via voice assistants such as Amazon Alexa or Google Home, a function that I personally cannot do without.

And last, but not least, there is certainly to talk about perhaps the most important feature of this Ecovacs model: the TrueDetect 3D technology.

One of the biggest inconveniences of robot vacuum cleaners is the possibility that they constantly get stuck in narrow passages, mobile or small unevennesses, not to mention bumps against more or less fragile objects. Well, this is a really effective solution to the problem. By setting TrueDetect 3D through the application, T8 Pure will easily avoid all obstacles, even the smallest ones, for example: chairs with very thin legs, clothes racks, door sills, it will move much better in particularly narrow spaces and much more.

Combined with TrueMapping and all the features we have already learned to appreciate about Ecovacs, this feature makes the Ozmo T8 Pure a real gem for daily cleaning.

Conclusions

Also in this case, I lived the experience with Ecovacs Deebot Ozmo T8 Pure as an evolution of my Ozmo 920, very similar in form and function but much more effective than the latter. There is absolutely nothing missing from the features you might want in a product of this type.

The only drawback is probably the price. While it is true that the added technologies make T8 Pure a certainly higher-end model than the N8 + and Ozmo 920 that we have already talked about on our pages, it is also true that the cost is much higher and, at least for the less pretentious. , it might not be worth it.

After all, we are always talking about products that “help” in house cleaning, they don't really deal with it at 360 degrees. It is therefore legitimate to think that you do not want to spend a fortune on it.

At the time of writing, Ecovacs Deebot Ozmo T8 Pure costs € 549.98 but is available until May 19 at € 439, although it must be admitted that Ecovacs often offers very strong offers on its products. Specifically, this model has just seen a discount period that made you grab it for almost € 100 less than its list price.

Although this is not an affordable price for everyone, at around € 450 it really is a product not to be missed in my opinion, especially when compared to the rest of the robot vacuum cleaner market in this price range.
