The 2020 MobileLabs Awards

The 2020 MobileLabs Awards
2020 is now (and finally) on the home straight. Although the pandemic led to the cancellation of major events, such as the Mobile World Congress in Barcelona, and caused slowdowns and delays in the supply chain, the technology industry has continued on its way. There are many products that have been announced by the various manufacturers: new arrivals, many confirmations and interesting news. Between reviews, presentations, insights and comparisons, today the MobileLabs team is ready to assign the 2020 Awards.

Before continuing with the list of winning products among those reviewed, it is important to specify that the Award is assigned not to the best product without weak points but to devices that stand out for one aspect in particular: autonomy, quality / price ratio, innovative design, software peculiarities, etc.

Smartphone

Samsung Galaxy Note 20 Ultra 5G - The most complete

In our review, we called it a technical masterpiece for the level reached by the range that is not has equal in the Android world. The peculiar S-Pen is able to offer a unique user experience of its kind. It is the reference point for those who look at productivity. For the build quality, the excellent 6.9-inch display with QHD + resolution and 120 Hz refresh rate, the excellent performance and the presence of a complete software we have awarded the Samsung Galaxy Note 20 Ultra 5G the 2020 Award.

Samsung Galaxy Z Flip - The best foldable

Form factor and selling price: these are the elements that have earned Galaxy Z Flip the 2020 Award. Although it has reached 1,520 euro, it was the cheapest folding smartphone on the market. The smartphone that has been able to speak to the general public, also thanks to the excellent promotions offered by Samsung especially in recent weeks. A different and transportable product thanks to its clamshell closure which - during our test - did not show any particular critical issues.

Poco X3 NFC - The best quality / price ratio

Display with refresh 120 Hz rate, 6 Gigabytes of RAM, Qualcomm Snapdragon 732G, 5,160 mAh battery and quad rear camera with 64 Megapixel sensor. All at a selling price starting at 229 euros. Nothing else is needed to explain why Poco X3 NFC received the MobileLabs 2020 Award. Although with some flaws highlighted in the review, in fact, it was the smartphone with an excellent quality / price ratio. The rivals didn't have an easy time.

OnePlus 8T - The best value for money at the high end

Again, the determining factor is the price. OnePlus 8T arrived on the market at 599 euros, a decidedly aggressive figure, even if it comes with a fairly complete technical sheet. High-level user experience, excellent autonomy, first-class performance and ergonomics: these were the positive elements that made us appreciate OnePlus 8T during our review. It represented (and still represents) a valid alternative to the more expensive top of the range.

Vivo X51 5G - The most peculiar camera

Vivo X51 5G is the smartphone with which the Chinese company made its entry into Italy. The Chinese brand has always distinguished itself in the sector for its innovative streak which - over the years - has led to the introduction of technologies which then became mass market. X51 5G is no exception. It is the smartphone that can boast a main camera with a gimbal system that ensures stabilization like that of the gimbals. As we have told you in detail in our review, it is precisely the versatility of the camera with its peculiarity that we wanted to reward.

iPhone 12 Mini - The best compact

How difficult it is to find today compact smartphones? Much. iPhone 12 Mini, on the other hand, makes its strong point its compact size. All without neglecting the excellent user experience offered by iOS 14, the excellent performance of the new A14-Bionic processor, the more than satisfactory yield of the photographic sector and the quality of the OLED display (review here). Finally, without forgetting that the iPhone 12 Mini is also the cheapest of its generation.

LG Wing - The most innovative form factor

The innovative display of LG Wing wins the MobileLabs Award 2020. The smartphone features a one-of-a-kind form factor with the display that can rotate clockwise 90 degrees revealing a second 3.9-inch screen, thus offering us a new hitherto unexplored multiscreen experience and paving the way for new and different scenarios for using a smartphone. As we have specified in our review, there is still work to be done on the software side but the idea is to be rewarded.

Tablet

iPad 2020 - The best value for money

When it comes to tablets, the reference point is iPad and iPad 2020 is the model that allows those who wish to enter the iPadOS world at affordable prices. In fact, it arrived in Italy at 389 euros, a figure that still allows you to get a high-level experience thanks to the excellent performance and support for the Apple Pencil (albeit first generation) and the Smart Keyboard (review here). In short, once again, it is the quality / price ratio that decides the winner.

Smartwatch

Huawei Watch GT2 Pro - The best for autonomy

Performance and autonomy : these are the elements that lead Huawei Watch GT2 Pro towards the MobileLabs Award 2020. As we discussed in our review, the Shenzen giant's smartwatch is perfect in every situation: from physical activity - thanks to the many parameters that can be monitored - to more formal situations thanks to its elegant style. The package is then completed with the great autonomy, which can reach up to two weeks with less intense use.

Fitbit Sense - The most complete

Fitbit Sense is the clear proof of what you have to be perfect in everything to receive an Award. What stands out in this case are all the sensors and related functions that allow you to keep health parameters under control: ECG, SpO2 sensor, skin temperature detection, advanced tracking of sleep and stress. All accompanied by an excellent application that offers the user lots of information as well as many other useful resources (review here).

Honor Watch ES - The best quality / price ratio

Finding yourself halfway: this is the peculiarity of Honor Watch ES. A hybrid that is halfway between a real smartwatch and a fitness tracker. To the elegant style typical of most smart watches are added the many functions for sports and for health monitoring which - with the particular rectangular display - make Honor Watch ES one of the best solutions currently on the market below 100 euros. . We have rewarded it for its ability to meet everyone's needs (review here).

Laptop

Huawei MateBook X Pro 2020 - The best for autonomy

MateBook X Pro 2020 is undoubtedly one of the most interesting notebooks of the year. In our review, we got to appreciate it in every aspect. The build quality is impeccable as well as the handling, the writing experience reaches heights of excellence and the hardware platform allows it to be used in production even at an above average level. However, it is the excellent autonomy (about 10 hours) that led us to assign our Award.

Headphones and Earphones

Bose Quietcomfort Earbuds - The most complete

Bose Quietcomfort Earbuds open the headphone and earphone category ranking for the MobileLabs 2020 Awards. The audio quality is great, the noise cancellation is among the best currently available and they are comfortable to use and wear. They are not very small and neither is the charging case, but - as stated in the review - we would not trade the quality of user experience they offer with the smaller dimensions.

Creative Outlier Air V2 - The best value for money

The Creative Outlier Air V2 True Wireless Earphones deserve our 2020 Award for overall audio quality, battery life and price. In short, it is again the price / quality ratio that is decisive. They offer a duration of approximately 36 hours (in combination with the charging case) and a high-level audio quality close to products sold at higher figures. Without forgetting, support for Siri voice assistants and Google Assistant (review here).

Sony WH-1000XM4 - The best headphones with ANC

For the second consecutive year, we give the our Sony WH-1000XM4 Headphone Award. They are the best active noise canceling headphones of 2020, as pointed out in our review. All this is always seasoned with an excellent relationship between general performance and selling price. The Japanese company has improved everything it could improve on last year's model, starting with the ANC, and hit the mark once again.

Jabra Elite 85t - The most versatile

Complete, customizable, versatile and with an excellent active noise cancellation function. These are the reasons why we gave the Jabra Elite 85t True Wireless Earphones our Award. Although there are other proposals on the market able to do better from the point of view of audio quality (as written in our review), the versatility, the mix of excellent features and a very useful application (more unique than rare) deserve to be rewarded.

Our award ceremonies end here for this 2020, with the hope that 2021 has many surprises and many innovations in store for us that we will be happy to be able to tell you here on the pages of sportsgaming.win.

The products included in the MobileLabs 2020 Awards have all been reviewed and tested in the field by our editors. Devices that we have not tested were not taken into consideration. We reiterate that the Awards are assigned not to the absolute best product but to the one that struck us for a particular feature, function or other.
