Subaru BRZ 2021: coupé with a modern look and innovative technologies
The difficult period facing the whole world, due to the health emergency linked to COVID-19, meant that the Japanese carmaker unveiled its new coupe through an event held online. The Subaru BRZ 2021, while maintaining its original character, seems to have reached a higher gear than the previous model, both from the point of view of design and from the point of view of technical specifications.

Unfortunately, however, it would seem that the new coupe of the Japanese brand will not bea> available on the European market. Instead - as far as the US market is concerned - the Subaru BRZ 2021 should debut by the autumn of next year, which is why it is still too early to know detailed and official information regarding performance, price and consumption.

Engine and performance

However, a 2.4-liter 4-cylinder Boxer engine will power the new coupe and - in this case - rear-wheel drive and 6-speed manual gearbox will not be missing, with the possibility of opting for an automatic 6-speed gearbox too. Thus, the engine will provide the Subaru BRZ with the ability to deliver - no longer 200 hp - but 231 hp. The engine, which reaches maximum power at 7,000 rpm, uses the D-4S injection system developed together with the Toyota brand. The car will be able to sprint from 0 to 100 km / h in 5.7 seconds.

Although by very little, the weight of the Japanese brand's vehicle has also been increased, in fact the Subaru BRZ is 1,280 kg (35 kg more when compared to the BRZ 2.0). The limited weight increase was made possible thanks to the use of aluminum to make the hood, fenders and roof. The dimensions have also remained almost unchanged, in fact the new BRZ is about 25 mm longer and 12 mm lower than the previous model. The wheelbase remained the same, with a height of 2.57 m.

The rear wheel drive with automatic differential and ideal weight balance will optimize the driving experience. However, a fundamental role will be played by the innovative suspension with which the new car of the Japanese brand will be equipped. Furthermore, it would seem that the chassis is able to guarantee the vehicle a torsional stiffness greater than 50%. The new generation Subaru will have the innovative Michelin Pilot Sport 4 tires with a width of 215 mm mounted on 17-inch or 18-inch wheels. New technologies should also include a firmer braking system.

New design

A revisitation and a change of look also to the design of the new generation Subaru BRZ. In fact, the car looks much more robust and massive when compared to the previous model, however the proportions that characterize the rear-wheel drive coupe have been largely respected. Extended bonnet, front grille positioned lower and more evident fenders with air intakes positioned on the sides give the Subaru BRZ 2021 a more aggressive and captivating appearance. Fundamental elements to guarantee greater aerodynamics are the innovative optical groups. Instead, the double exhaust terminal inside the diffuser, already seen in the first series, is back.
