Cinebench R23 introduces support for the Apple M1 chip, here are the details
Maxon has updated its Cinebench software to version R23 with some pretty important changes, such as support for Apple's new M1 chips based on the ARM architecture and some improvements to the way the program tests the system's processor. In case you are interested, you can download Cinebench R23 from here.

Perhaps Cinebench's biggest improvement is that now the test runs for ten minutes and doesn't force the user to run multiple consecutive runs to get there. duration. Maxon added this feature for a more accurate representation of CPU performance. In particular, the ten-minute time interval allows the CPU cooling system to enter full capacity, as well as to raise temperatures to realistic levels. On modern processors, this will (usually) force the CPU to lower its maximum frequency as the temperature rises and that will directly affect the Cinebench score.

Here are the full technical details provided by Maxon on the Cinebench R23 update:

Cinebench R23 now supports processing systems based on Apple's M1 chip. Cinebench is now based on the latest Release 23 code using updated compilers and has a minimum duration enabled by default (previously hidden in preferences). Cinebench R23 provides better benchmark accuracy for current and next generation CPUs to check whether a machine runs stably under high CPU load, whether a desktop or notebook cooling solution is sufficient for longer than normal tasks, and to understand if a device can handle demanding 3D tasks. Users now have the ability to directly test single core performance without manually enabling the "Advanced Benchmark" option. "Advanced Benchmark" allows users to set arbitrary minimum runtimes to stress-test hardware for even longer periods of time. Due to code and compiler changes, Cinebench score values have been readjusted to a new range, so they do not need to be compared with those obtained in previous versions of Cinebench. Cinebench R23 does not test GPU performance. Cinebench R23 will not launch on unsupported processors. On systems without enough RAM to load the test scene, a warning will be displayed and the CPU benchmark will not run. Background activities can significantly influence measurement and create different results. It is always a good idea to close all running programs and disable any virus checking or disk indexing, but it is impossible to delete all background processes. Modern operating systems perform various background tasks that cannot or should not be disabled, although they may have a minor influence on the results. Test results may vary slightly because it is impossible to disable any background activity of the operating system. These operations are a factor that can have a slight influence on the measurements. Additionally, modern computers and graphics cards dynamically adjust clock speeds based on environmental conditions such as power and temperature. For example, processors will throttle clock speeds when they are too hot to allow for cooling and prevent damage. With many modern processors, the reverse is also true. They are able to overclock themselves when the temperature is low enough. Therefore, a system that has just booted up in a relatively cold environment will typically run faster than the same system that has run benchmarks for several hours in a heated office. You can also start Maxon Cinebench with command line options. Refer to the operating system manual on how to start an application using the command line. After the application name, enter one of the options listed below. Maxon Cinebench will then run, run the specified test and finally close, displaying the result in the command line console. The result is not saved to file.
