Sly Cooper 5: Development seems to have started some time ago

Sly Cooper 5

There is no doubt that Sly Cooper 5 is the title all longtime players have wanted for a long time. Sucker Punch's raccoon is one of the most beloved of PlayStation mascots, along with other historical faces such as Ratchet & Clank who, however, recently starred in one of the biggest PS5 exclusives of the year. On the contrary, Sly's gang now seems to have disappeared from the radar, which is why many are wondering if and when it will return.

Speaking, a few weeks ago, it was Nick Baker, the already well-known insider who several times he made himself heard among the community, above all for having proved to be a reliable leaker. According to him, Sony would actually be preparing the return of Sly Cooper and the development of the game would have started as early as this summer, with a possible teaser coming during a State of Play or in the middle of 2022. A Reddit user then points out a detail very interesting: just in June 2021 a Funko Pop dedicated to Sly Cooper was released from nothing, for no apparent reason.

There are therefore possibilities that the release of that figure, which would seem to have sold very well, it's also a little hint that the raccoon thief is indeed about to make his return. Even more interesting is a small easter egg shown during the September PlayStation Showcase commercial, where it was possible to see the Sly Cooper icon for a few frames: in fact, Sony is known for hiding details on games not yet announced during advertising for this type, as he had previously done with Crash 4 as well.

After all, let's be honest, it's not that crazy to think that Sly can really return to our PlayStation 5, and for those of those who intend to buy it soon, especially due to the huge demand from fans. Sony is increasingly proving to be more than capable of listening to player feedback, which is why the expectations of all users are very high. We also hope you listen to FromSoftware game lovers who are still asking for a re-release of Bloodborne or maybe a sequel.

On Amazon you can buy Deathloop, one of the biggest PlayStation 5 exclusives of the year, or Death Stranding Director's Cut , also at an affordable price.

Sly Cooper 5 Development Is Rumored to Still Be in 'Early' Stages

In recent months, new rumors have started to emerge suggesting that PlayStation is currently gearing up to create a new installment in the long-running Sly Cooper series. If these rumors are true then this new entry, which is assumed to be Sly Cooper 5, will likely be coming to PlayStation 5 at some point in the future. However, up until now, we haven't really known when this new installment might actually end up releasing. Based on some new information that has come to light, though, it sounds like we might be waiting for quite some time.

According to one Nick Baker, who has been a reputable video game industry insider in the past, this new Sly Cooper game will likely be a few years away from releasing. In a recent interaction on social media, Baker was asked about the status of Sly Cooper 5 based on what he has heard from his own sources. Baker responded and said that he has been told that the new PS5 game is still very early on in the development process. 'From what I've been told it's early. Quite early,' he stressed.

In short, this means that even if Sly Cooper 5 is set to eventually release in the future, we likely won't hear about it for quite some time. Not only will the game itself likely not end up hitting store shelves until much further down the road, but it also tells us that PlayStation may not even reveal the project until quite a bit longer.

Still, it's important to note that the nature of these rumors associated with Sly Cooper 5 shouldn't be taken as complete truth just yet. Since we can't verify any of this supposed information from Baker for ourselves, take what is being expressed here with the typical grain of salt until PlayStation potentially unveils more in an official capacity.

Are you hoping that these rumors of Sly Cooper 5 end up becoming true? And when do you think that this project might actually release on PlayStation 5? Let me know your best guess either down in the comments or hit me up on Twitter at @MooreMan12.
