Has Star Wars: Rangers of the New Republic been canceled?

Has Star Wars

Star Wars: Rangers of the New Republic, the spin-off series featuring Cara Dune, the former imperial Stormtrooper already known in The Mandalorian, does not seem to be sailing in good waters.

Star Wars: Rangers of the New Republic, an uncertain series from the beginning

Announced last year, Star Wars: Rangers of the New Republic was to, together with Ahsoka and the aforementioned The Mandalorian, constitute a sort of Star Wars spin-off series “trilogy”. The popularity that the character of Cara Dune (of which you can find the Funko Pop at this link) had acquired during the second season of The Mandalorian, could easily justify an entire series dedicated to her, thus going to deepen her new role as guardian of the order on behalf of the New Republic.

Already at the time, however, no indication had been released about what exactly Lucasfilm would like to present with this new project, which sounded rather suspicious from the start.

Subsequently there was practically no more news regarding the progress of the works, also because a few months after the announcement, the actress Gina Carano, who was supposed to play the protagonist Cara, was freed from every contract and bond with Lucasfilm, following some of his controversial posts on social networks that have infuriated a good part of the fan community.

The departure of Carano left a big question mark on the fate of Star Wars: Rangers of the New Republic, as no official communication has arrived. To sound almost like a definitive sentence for the series, are the recent statements by Kathleen Kennedy, president of Lucasfilm.

During an interview granted to Empire Magazine, Kathleen Kennedy made it clear that for Star Wars: Rangers of the New Republic not a meager screenplay or script page has currently been written, but that some ideas nonetheless of the original concept will be used equally in future Star Wars productions.
