Pokémon TCG Live: App release date and beta postponed

Pokémon TCG Live: App release date and beta postponed

Pokémon TCG Live

In a post on Twitter, The Pokémon Company announced the postponement of the release period of Pokémon TCG Live. The game should have started the rollout of the mobile versions by the end of the year with the public beta for PC to follow, both postponed to 2022.

For the uninitiated, GCC Pokémon Live is the new free incarnation -to-play Pokémon trading card game for Windows PC, Mac, iOS and Android mobile devices. The title therefore allows you to collect a large collection of cards and build decks to challenge other players online. New cards can also be obtained by scanning codes, purchasing expansion packs in the app with the in-game currency, which can also be obtained by completing daily challenges. The game will also evolve and expand over time thanks to post-launch updates and new decks.

Originally the soft launch of the Android and iOS versions should have started in Canada by the end of this year, according to some sources on November 12, followed by open beta for PC globally. With a message on Twitter, the official account of the Pokémon TCG announced that both launches have been postponed to 2022, to ensure the best possible experience. As a result, the publication of the final version will also be delayed compared to the roadmap.

Twitter account also reassures players who recently received Pokémon Live TCG branded promotional card codes. Although the game is not yet available at the moment, the codes can still be redeemed on Pokémon TCG Online.

Pokémon TCG Live delayed into next year

The Pokémon Company has delayed Pokémon TCG Live into next year. The developer explains on Twitter that the release shift comes down to giving players a “more polished experience” and that more information on a precise release date and testing period will be shared “soon”.

“To provide Trainers with a more polished experience, the Pokémon TCG Live mobile soft launch in Canada, and global open beta for desktop, have been shifted to 2022,” the Pokémon Company says. “We’ll have more to share soon on timing for both this testing period and the full launch of Pokémon TCG Live.”

The developer also clarified that code cards with Pokémon TCG Live branding bought with other TCG-related products are still redeemable in Pokémon TCG Online. While the PTCG Online app will be removed from from the App Store, Google Play, and Pokémon website prior the launch of Pokémon TCG Live, the company says that existing PTCG Online players will be able to “easily transfer their account and game data to Pokémon TCG Live upon its release”.
