Panasonic has announced the arrival on the market of a new rugged Android tablet dedicated to the world of work. Designed to withstand the most extreme situations and to be used with one hand, the Panasonic Toughbook S1 is suitable for use in a wide variety of different working environments.

The Panasonic Toughbook S1 is designed so that with or without the strap for use with which it is equipped is comfortable to use with a single hand. With a weight of around 426g, relatively small in its category, Panasonic says the 7 ″ tablet was suitable for continuous use.

Speaking of the display, the panel is able to achieve a brightness of 500 nit and the protection with anti-glare technology allows it to be used even in the open air. To avoid unpleasant inconveniences, the tablet is also optimized for use in the rain or with work gloves. The optional stylus allows you to sign documents or collect signatures.

The rugged construction complies with MIL-STD-810H standards and the product is IP65 / 67 certified against the ingress of water and dust.

"The modern mobile worker deserves a computing device designed for his daily needs - not just another consumer tablet in a hard case with all the potential problems they bring," said Baris Koc, European Product Manager for Rugged Mobile Computing at Panasonic. “The Toughbook S1 is that professional device for the mobile workforce. It is built without compromise to meet the very specific and practical daily needs of both the users and the IT administrators who deploy them and their maintenance ”.

The device is able to adapt to different working environments and can be optionally equipped via a configurable gadget port which offers the possibility to use a barcode reader or an additional USB port.

To ensure that the rugged tablet can last all the time in any work shift, it features a quick-release “hot swappable” battery slot. This eliminates the need to interrupt work, turn off the device and remove complicated panels to change the battery. With two battery size options, the device can run for up to 14 hours on a single charge.

There is a 13MP rear camera with flash and a 5MP front camera for capturing images to attach to reports and for videoconferences with colleagues. The device uses the Android 10 operating system and is equipped with a Qualcomm Snapdragon 660 SoC, 4GB of RAM and 64GB of storage.

The Toughbook S1 is Android Enterprise-ready and comes bundled with the Panasonic suite COMPASS of business management tools. The Complete Android Services and Security package offers everything a company needs to securely configure, deploy and manage its Panasonic Android rugged devices.

In addition to this, the new tablets for the business world is offered with a three-year warranty and is already available for purchase, more information on the official website of the manufacturer.
