Nintendo Switch: Releases 2021 - New Switch Highlights
The new year is still young; what awaits us this year is still unclear in many ways. But what we already know: There will be plenty of games highlights for the Nintendo Switch again in 2021! The Japanese take care of this themselves with new games, but also many other manufacturers and developers are busy publishing titles for the hybrid console. Here you can find out which games you can look forward to for the Switch in 2021!

Super Mario 3D World + Bowser's Fury

Super Mario 3D World + Bowser's Fury has been announced for quite a while for the Nintendo Switch

(buy now 399.00 €). The Jump & Run originally appeared in 2013 for the flopped previous console Wii U and is now getting a second chance on the much more successful Switch; on February 12, 2021! In Super Mario 3D World you complete numerous classic Mario levels in different worlds, defeat opponents, collect coins and stars and at the end climb up the target flag. The game is played in a mixture of 2D and 3D gameplay. On the Switch, the main game will also be expanded to include Bowser's Fury, so there is also completely new content. Also new are, for example, an online multiplayer mode and motion control.

Bravely Default 2

Also in February, Bravely Default 2, a new role-playing game from Square Enix, will be released exclusively for Switch . The game comes from the same team as Octopath Traveler, which was initially only released for the Nintendo console in summer 2018, but later also for PC and Google Stadia. In the successor to Bravely Default and Bravely Second for the 3DS, a new game world, an equally new storyline and new heroes of light await you. Harvest Moon: One World

The new Harvest Moon with the subtitle One World will appear on the Switch in March, to be precise on March 5th, 2021. Once again you can and simulation game to live out your longing for country life virtually. This should originally have been possible in autumn 2020, but the coronavirus pandemic caused delays and the release was postponed. The reason for the new Harvest Moon this time is not the grandfather who bequeathed his farm to you. Instead, all types of vegetables have disappeared from the game world. You now have to regain the knowledge you lost about farm life so that your farm can grow and prosper. Most of the gameplay stays the same. One World is also quite a classic farm simulation, as it is numerous on the Switch and very popular among gamers.

Monster Hunter Rise

Also in March, Monster Hunter Rise will be released for the Switch! This is a full-fledged and even exclusive new game in the series for the Nintendo Switch. While the series was particularly strong and successful at the 3DS, Switch players looked into the tube at the last big Monster Hunter. But that will change in the new year! With the game world called Kamura, a Japanese-inspired setting is in the foreground this time. This goes hand in hand with well-known monsters as well as new monstrous critters. Because the Switch is not only used on TV, but also on the move, the developers have adapted the new Monster Hunter to it. The story is not that important, but Rise is well suited for shorter game sessions in between. Otherwise, the new Monster Hunter also relies on a lot of tried and tested. Monster Hunter Rise will be released exclusively for the Nintendo Switch on March 26, 2021.

Story of Seasons: Pioneers of Olive Town

In the same month as the new Harvest Moon and on the same day as the new Monster Hunter, the new Story of Seasons will also be released for the Switch in March . Pioneers of Olive Town will be available for the Nintendo console from March 26, 2021. In the farm simulation you not only get the classic gameplay of this type of game; the story is also absolutely generic. Grandfather bequeaths his farm to you, which you have to bring back into shape because it has meanwhile fallen into disrepair. To do this, you move from the big city to the countryside and start hard but honest work in the fields. You plant vegetables and fruits, look after your animals, collect resources and sell all of this for a profit. You then invest the money you raise in the further development of your farm. Story of Seasons: Pioneers of Olive Town does not promise anything exciting in March, but traditionally solid gameplay for fans of farm simulations. Apex Legends

Apex Legends has been available for PlayStation, Xbox and PC since February 2019 - and soon also for the Nintendo Switch! It has been in development for the Nintendo console for a while, the shooter should actually appear in 2020. However, the development needs even more time and this is how it should be this year. Like the competition from Fortnite and Co., Apex Legends also relies on a tried and tested Battle Royale game principle. Legend skills and team play ensure very tactical gameplay. Loot boxes are available, but only contain cosmetic goodies and are therefore optional. The gunplay is also a success, which feels very arcade and is reminiscent of Titanfall 2. We are excited to see how well Apex Legends will do on the Switch.

No More Heroes 3

Just like Apex Legends, No More Heroes 3 should actually be released in 2020. However, the development will be delayed until 2021. After ten years of absence, the game protagonist Travis Touchdown returns to Santa Destroy. But while he was gone, a lot has changed. A gigantic artificial island city is floating on the sea and a strange flying object hovers in the sky. What it's all about? I have no idea, but Travis Touchdown will take care of the problem - exclusively on the Nintendo Switch later this year!

Hitman 3: Cloud Version

For several months now, Switch players worldwide have been able to Stream a few games to the Switch that are too power hungry for the hybrid console. In Japan this has been possible for a long time. Nintendo calls it the "cloud version". And such a version of Hitman 3 will be released for the Switch in 2021! When exactly is still unclear, the release on other platforms will be on January 20th. Hitman 3 marks the end of the World of Assassination trilogy and promises classic Hitman gameplay.

The Lord of the Rings: Gollum

We have known since the beginning of 2019 that The Lord of the Rings: Gollum appears. What was initially only announced for the PC will also come to the Switch in 2021. Daedalic Entertainment, known for Felix the Reaper and Shift Happens, is responsible for the implementation. In the game you take on the role of the eponymous Gollum and experience his story from a new perspective. According to the developers, the game should nevertheless remain true to the novel. In the course of time, other Lord of the Rings games by Daedalic will appear.

Pokémon, Metroid, Zelda and Co.

Of course there are also some games that have been in Work and announced, but may only appear this year; with different degrees of probability. New Pokémon Snap is almost certain to hit the market in 2021. The game is the successor to the 1999 N64 game, in which you go on a photo safari in the world of Pokémon.

The release is still very uncertain for Metroid Prime 4. The new 3D Metroid has long been in Development. In the meantime, however, the responsible studio changed and work began from scratch. But that was also about two years ago; a release in 2021 cannot be ruled out entirely. Nintendo Switch: Releases 2021 - New game highlights for Nintendo Switch (5) Source: Nintendo

Also still quite uncertain about a release this year, but also not excluded: The Legend of Zelda: Breath of the Wild 2. The new open world adventure with Link has been in development for some time, but so far there has only been a short announcement trailer. This shows that the next Breath of the Wild will be pretty dark.

We haven't seen anything from detective Pikachu for the Switch yet. The game has been in the works for some time. Originally released as a 3DS game in Germany years later than in Japan, its implementation as a movie celebrated great successes in 2019. Whether we will experience the story of the film, the handheld predecessor or a whole new story in the same universe in the Switch game is currently still completely open.

Yo-kai Watch 4, on the other hand, is elsewhere, namely in Japan , even published in mid-2019. To this day, however, the new part of the Pokémon competition is not available from us; The release has been announced for a long time. The three parts and the spin-off for the 3DS also appeared outside of Japan with a considerable delay. So it could finally be ready for us in 2021.

And what about Bayonetta 3? Nintendo announced the game for the Switch at the end of 2017, but only with a teaser trailer without real gameplay. Since then, the Platinum Games title has been largely silent. Apparently the title is still in development, according to official statements of various employees of the Japanese studio. So we may finally get more information and maybe even a release in 2021.
