G.I. Joe: the story of the famous animated series

G.I. Joe

It was September 12, 1983 when G.I. Joe (the original name is GI Joe: A Real American Hero), which is the animated television series based on the famous line of toys produced by Hasbro and on the Marvel Comics comic series (which you can find on Amazon) produced in collaboration with the Sunbow. The series was immediately a great success because for several years all over the world, including Italy, the G.I. Joe mania and the Japanese production by Toei Animation, at least initially, did nothing but underline the importance of this great brand.

The cartoon, created by Ron Friedman, began with two mini-series in five parts published in 1983 and 1984, to then become a regular series from 1985 to 1986 for a total of 95 episodes (in Italy the episodes were 92 and arrived in 1987). In any case, almost 40 years later, G.I. Joe is still a very popular franchise that tries to gain strength even with the new generations with a live-action film released in 2021 under the title of Snake Eyes: G.I. Joe - The origins. Let's see together what it represents and the reasons behind such success.
