Cyberpunk 2077: how it runs on Stadia
Cyberpunk 2077 has finally made its debut on gaming platforms around the world. The highly anticipated new IP from CD Projekt proved to be extremely valid, peculiar, while not concealing several critical issues, which players have readily noticed (especially on consoles).

However, somewhat hidden by the shadow of the poor success of the platform, the version for Google Stadia seems to be a bolt from the blue that it was not obvious to expect.

Let's not delay, then, and see how Cyberpunk 2077 runs on Stadia.

The best compromise?

Let's start by saying that the Stadia version of Cyberpunk 2077 is truly amazing. Basically, it's somewhere between the performance you can get with last generation mid-gen consoles and a high-end (if not better performing) PC.

Night City is bright, crisp and graphically very captivating, as are the supporting actors, much more detailed than the console counterpart.

We should also underline the speed of the uploads, which really amazed us.

You can choose between two graphic settings , which are distinguished in Performance and Graphics.

The former provides greater fluidity in terms of frame rate, taking it up to 60 frames per second, but implies a maximum resolution of 1080p. The second, however, provides for greater graphic detail (4K is guaranteed here), at the expense of the frame rate, which drops to 30 fps.

Based on our experience, the Graphics option is what you we recommend using, as the game is perfectly enjoyable even at 30 frames per second, but, above all, because the almost granitic stability of the frame rate, added to a graphic boost that should not be underestimated, will make your gaming experience much more galvanizing.

Stadia Pro or not Stadia Pro?

Google claims that Stadia gives its best when you have an active Stadia Pro subscription, which increases the quality of the game stream up to the much coveted 4K, adds HDR and allows for 5.1 surround sound. Which is true: it adds a lot to the gaming experience. But if you play it from mobile, or from a computer that does not support 4K or HDR?

The winning idea behind Stadia is precisely that of providing great freedom to the player, who can choose your screen and continue the game as if nothing had happened.

So, is a Stadia Pro subscription essential to play Cyberpunk 2077?

The answer, of course, is: it depends on yours particular configuration.

If played by Chromecast Ultra on a nice 4K TV that supports HDR with, perhaps, a Home Theater system side by side, there is no doubt that the improvements introduced by the subscription begin to become, if not fundamental , very succulent.

However, if your intent is to play it from a laptop from a few years ago or from a smartphone, know that even if you don't have Stadia Pro, the game will be perfectly usable.

A further applause we would like to do just how the title looks on mobile with grandeur less than 10-inch screen.

We were literally blown away by the game's performance on such small screens. The glance is amazing and every time you realize you are playing from a smartphone, in streaming, you create a short circuit that always leaves you speechless.

A question of the network

We talked very well about this version of Cyberpunk 2077 for Stadia, but that question always remains, present and constant: the quality of the connection.

The size and weight of the game does not affect this aspect in any way. Thus, the streaming quality of Cyberpunk 2077 will be the same as you will have with any other title in the Stadia catalog.

The real problem here is the connection that each of us has at home.

Near the center of Rome, with a 100 MB, positioned very close to the router (a Google Nest Wifi, by the way) and an actual download of about 70 MB / s, the streaming quality at 1080p is excellent. It happens very rarely to see slowdowns or blocks ... if no one is using other services at that moment.

As long as we talk about web pages or social networks the problems do not reveal themselves, but if it is in a video call or if someone is using any streaming product, then, in that case, your game could suffer significant slowdowns.

Also, during the day, due to increased traffic on the network, you may witness more frequently (even if there are no other devices connected besides yours) to drops in the quality of the streaming, which will unmask its nature as a product enjoyed on the Internet.

Music changes overnight. In fact, we have never encountered problems of any kind during these times (always as long as the one you are running the title on is the only device that is consistently using the network).

Obviously, we repeat , these results may vary depending on your Internet provider, your contract and the devices used. But, ultimately, we can draw the following conclusions for those who do not have an amazing connection: if you live at home alone and you are the only source of consumption on the net, you will never have problems starting and playing the title in complete tranquility; but if, on the other hand, you live in a house crowded with brothers and sisters who have to connect every morning with Meet, Zoom or Teams to follow the lessons, or you have a partner who occupies even a minimum of the line because they have to work remotely , then probably the only time you will have available to play the title will be during the night, when everyone is asleep and you are the only one standing, red-eyed, trying to explore an immense world until you collapse. Luckily, mobile games are a delight: at least you will lose consciousness from the comfort of your bed, under the covers.

This was our analysis of Cyberpunk 2077 for Stadia.

The game, we have said it over and over again in these days, is extremely valid and the version released by the Google streaming service (which, according to an insider, has been specially edited by Google itself, so as to be able to provide a stable and reliable product already from the day of the launch) could actually be the best way to use it at the moment, if you don't have a very performing PC.

Of course, there is always the stake of the Internet connection, but if this is not a problem for you, then it is absolutely an experience we recommend you try.
