Cyberpunk 2077, corrupt save files over 8MB: the comment of CD Projekt
There is another problem that is affecting some players of Cyberpunk 2077, and it is related to the save file: apparently, it can become corrupt and become completely unusable once it exceeds the weight of 8MB - the current limit imposed by the developers - on all platforms.

The alarm was raised on Reddit and on the official forums of the Polish company. Many of the players who have seen their save become corrupted have noticed that this happened when they exceeded a specific size, corresponding to 8 MB. The numerous testimonies prompted CD Projekt RED to intervene with an official communication, entrusted to the support pages of the proprietary platform GOG.com: "Unfortunately the save is damaged and cannot be recovered. Please use an older save to continue playing and try to keep the number of crafting items and materials low. If you used the item duplication glitch, please load a previous save where you didn't use it. The save file size limit may have increased in the future patches, but corrupted files will remain corrupted ".

The support has therefore confirmed that the problem exists, and it is real. CD Projekt RED has set a size limit for save files, which if exceeded can lead to corruption. To prevent this from happening, he advises players not to collect too many items and materials, in order to keep the size low. The limit may be increased with future patches, but already corrupted files are unrecoverable. The vast majority of players may never have to deal with this problem - also because specific mention is made of the object duplication glitch, which under normal conditions should not be used - but it is something that must definitely be taken into account.

Meanwhile, the game continues to update itself. Cyberpunk 2077 Hotfix 1.05 was released yesterday on PS4 and Xbox One, then also arrived on PC in the night.
