California pinball museum closes and sells 1000 rare pieces

Among the machines up for auction, some rarities are included for a total value of over 6 million euros

(Photo: Museum of pinball) It will be one of the largest arcade machine auctions ever to follow the dismantling of the famous Museum of Pinball in Banning in the US state of California. In fact, about 1100 pinball machines will be beaten to the highest bidder, including various rarities and pieces of great value, for a total value that exceeds 6 million euros.

The Banning Pinball Museum was visited every day by hundreds of enthusiasts who could not only admire models that have written history and the most technological new releases up close, but could also try them as if they were in a sort of gigantic games room of over 3700 square meters. Unfortunately, the Covid-19 pandemic forced the managers to close the play-exhibition space and the huge management costs led to the closure of the project. There had been an attempt to move everything to nearby Palm Springs, but it failed. And so now we will go to auction to liquidate the largest collection of pinball machines in the world.

(Photo: Museum of pinball) The list of pinball machines is endless and also counts on cabinets of various productions such as those renowned models from Atari with Star Wars Cockpit, Paperboy, Exidy's “Death Race” and Bally Midway Discs of Tron models. Numerous filppers dedicated to superheroes such as Spiderman or Spiderman, space also for models inspired by films such as The Addams Family. There will be two ways to participate in the auction.

In addition to the on-site offers at the museum, it will also be possible to participate remotely thanks to the special online page that includes all lots. We start this Friday to continue on the weekend until Sunday. Anything that will not be sold in this three-day period will then necessarily be liquidated on the following days 24, 25 and 26 September.
