Halo Infinite: release date confirmed & limited Xbox Series X in Halo design

Halo Infinite

The release date of Halo Infinite has been set: The new first-person shooter will be released on December 8th for Xbox and PC. This confirms a previous report that the date appeared early in the Microsoft Store. The multiplayer mode (Free 2 Play) and the campaign can be played at the start. The latter, however, apparently only one at a time: the co-op mode for other players will follow later. The same applies to the world editor Forge, which will probably also not be submitted until 2022.

To get in the mood for the release of Halo Infinite (buy now € 69.99) and as part of the 20th anniversary of the action series, Microsoft is providing a Limited Edition Xbox Series X bundle, which will be available from November 15 for 549.99 euros. The design is based on the Halo universe and impresses with dark metal panels, framed by iridium gold accents. Fans will also discover a star pattern inspired by Zeta Halo. The Xbox Series X fan comes in a blue shade and is reminiscent of Cortana. In addition, the console goes up and down with the typical Halo sounds. The controller in the bundle is optically based on the design of the console and shows a golden 20 year mark on the back.

'Halo Infinite' Release Date Finally Revealed at Gamescom 2021

Halo Infinite has a definite release date at long last, announced during Gamescom's 'Opening Night Live' broadcast.

Ever since its initial delay in August 2020, fans have been eagerly awaiting a concrete update on when they will be able to play this next chapter in Master Chief's story.

The FPS was originally supposed to be a launch title for the Xbox Series X, but the developers at 343 Industries pushed it back for over a year so they could add a little more polish (seemingly in response to the harsh criticism that its first reveal attracted).

In the meantime, they have continued to drip-feed morsels of information about Halo Infinite in various blog posts and in Xbox's E3 livestream. There was even a technical preview for the game's multiplayer component just under a month ago, but even after that hands-on experience, fans were still left in the dark when it came to the actual release date.

When is the New 'Halo Infinite' Release Date?

As we forecast in our recent predictions article, Gamescom 2021 finally gave us a solid release date for Halo Infinite.

The announcement was featured toward the end of an interview with the developers. It turns out the rumors from earlier today, that can be attributed to a leaked image from the Microsoft store, were entirely accurate and the game will indeed be released on Wednesday, December 8.

In addition to this long-awaited announcement, Halo fans were treated to a lengthy cinematic trailer that provided narrative context for the game's first season of multiplayer content.

Meanwhile, there was also the reveal of a new limited-edition controller, modeled after the Spartan armor design, which has been produced to celebrate the 20th anniversary of the original Halo release.

Finally, an announcement trailer also debuted for a new Xbox Series X console that is themed specifically around Halo Infinite. This will be released in a bundle with a copy of the game itself, a matching controller, and an ultra-high speed HDMI cable. Pre-orders for this are available now from the Microsoft store.

Will 'Halo Infinite's' Campaign and Multiplayer Launch Together?

Halo Infinite's single-player campaign and multiplayer component will be available separately. The former will debut on Xbox Game Pass at launch, while the latter is free to play.

While they are being marketed as distinct products, 343 Industries confirmed that both halves of the experience will be released concurrently on December 8.

Thanks to Gamescom 2021, we finally have a confirmed release date for 'Halo Infinite.' 343 Industries
