Severed Steel: The stylish shooter gets a PC release date

Severed Steel

About a month and a half ago, players were given the opportunity to test Severed Steel in a closed beta. There wasn't an exact release date at the time, they were talking about summer. As part of Gamescom, they cleaned up in this regard and revealed when the stylish shooter will be available digitally for the PC.

Release date brings dopamine

According to this, Severed Steel will land on Steam on September 17th, so the calendar was kept to the promised summer. The game's official Twitter account confirmed the date and added that Konsoleros will also be supplied this year, albeit a little later than PC players.

The tweet also reveals that Severed Steel is now also coming to the next-gen consoles. Previously there was only talk of PlayStation 4 and Xbox One, now the PlayStation 5 and the Xbox Series have joined them as platforms. Whether the latest consoles from Sony and Microsoft use the newer technology or whether there are special features such as the DualSense controller was not revealed.

That's what Severed Steel is all about

In Severed Steel you slip into the role of Steel, a one-armed assassin and kill a bunch of nasty villains, in line with the premise of the title: "You, your trigger finger and your steel toe boots against a superstructure full of bad guys. " And because you're one-armed, the trigger finger is actually all you have left. Apart from your acrobatics, of course.

Specifically, this means: reloading does not work. So if you don't want to be drowned in the hail of bullets, you should rather unpack your thief skills with an empty magazine and snatch their weapons from the villains, otherwise it will quickly be "Game Over". If you missed the beta but feel like playing the title: A demo is available on Steam with which you can try out whether the quick first-person gunfights are for you. Have fun with it!

Stylish Shooter Severed Steel Gets September Release Date - Gamescom 2021

Severed Steel, a stylish first-person shooter from developer Digerati, is coming to PC on September 17. It will also come to PS5, Xbox Series X/S, and Nintendo Switch later this year.

Severed Steel has a lot of different inspirations from Mirror’s Edge to Black. But at the heart of the gameplay is the ability to wall run, dive, slide, flip, and bullet-time your way around a fully destructible environment while gunning down bad guys.

The game will come to PC on September 17 and, in addition to PS4 and Xbox One versions, Digerati has also announced that PS5, Xbox Series X/S, and Nintendo Switch will follow later this year.

You’ll play as Steel, a one-armed operative who is out to take down the mega-corporation EdenSys. Steel’s acrobatics and bullet-time abilities allow her to stylishly take down enemies, but there’s a catch. Steel cannot reload weapons, so if you find yourself out of ammo you have to find a replacement quick.

While reloading is one of the few things Steel can't do, the trailer shows off a good mix of Steels' other tools. Whether that's kicking through doors, wall-running between kills, or slowing down time to headshot bad guys, Severed Steel gives you plenty of ways to take down your enemies.

If you’re interested in checking gout Severed Steel early you can play a demo available on Steam which now has an additional campaign level and updates to the gameplay.

Severed Steel will be released first on PC before coming to PS4 and Xbox One at a later date. Check out IGN’s full Gamescom coverage for new trailers, announcements, and more.
