Play on Mac in 2021
The line of computers produced by Apple was never strongly linked to the world of video games. So let's take a look at the current situation of gaming on macOS and in particular how we can use a Mac computer as a gaming machine.

Multiplatform games

Multiplatform video games are typically converted by the PC to arrive on Sony and Microsoft consoles. Often developers spend additional time during development to bring their creations also on Nintendo Switch and in rare cases even on Mac. Available on the App Store or directly on Steam and other digital stores, these titles undoubtedly deserve the interest of gamers for the their high quality. For example we can find Hades, the roguelite of Supergiant Games nominated for Game Of The Year 2020. Changing genre and passing to role-playing games we find the timeless Divinity: Original Sin II or the popular The Elder Scrolls Online. There is also no shortage of strategic, a genre particularly linked to computers. Among these we undoubtedly want to mention Civilization VI and the less popular Europa Universalis IV. Among the most sought after indies and games we find the very original Cuphead and other titles in two dimensions such as Hollow Kight and Dead Cells. There is also no shortage of free-to-play classics to play with friends online such as Fortnite, League of Legends, DOTA 2. Finally we want to mention other interesting games like the entire trilogy of the Tomb Raider reboot, Rocket League, Minecraft, Diablo III , Undertale, Stardew Valley and many others. If you are interested in finding out which other video games are available directly on Mac, you can take a look directly at the official page on Steam or simply open the App Store pre-installed on any version of macOS.

So, if you have some old MacBook Air or any other Apple computer without a dedicated video card, you might encounter some difficulties in playing video games. Often it will be enough to sacrifice some graphic details to fully enjoy the experience, other times the game will simply not be compatible with your machine and the digital store will warn you directly of this incompatibility. Launched in 2019, Apple Arcade is a subscription service that grants access to a vast library of video games designed specifically for Apple's platforms.
