Nintendo fans had to wait a long, long time for a "real" or "big" Direct. But last week it finally happened! After a break of almost one and a half years, the Japanese company broadcast a so-called classic Nintendo Direct again for the first time; the video presentation lasted almost a whole hour. A lot of well-known things were shown, but there were also new announcements, such as Mario Golf: Super Rush and a new HD version of the Wii classic The Legend of Zelda: Skyward Sword for the Switch.

Livestream on Thursday

Now Nintendo announced via press release and social media that the next livestream with news will be coming up next week. On Thursday, March 4th, 2021, Masahiro Sakurai, legendary creator of the Smash Bros series, will introduce the next DLC fighter for Super Smash Bros. Ultimate (buy now € 52.99) from 3 p.m. German time. This is Pyra or her alter ego Mythra from the role-playing game Xenoblade Chronicles 2.

The new additional content was already announced in last week's Direct. Nintendo has only communicated the release date in March 2021. In the livestream with Masahiro Sakurai, the specific release date is also mentioned, according to Nintendo's press release.

This is in the DLC

As usual, the new DLC pack includes the fighter as well as a new stage and pieces of music. All of this is presented in the live stream. But there will be no more DLC fighters, as Nintendo emphasizes. Two more DLCs for Super Smash Bros. Ultimate are expected to appear by December 31, 2021. The pack with Pyra / Mythra costs 5.99 euros individually, but is also available as part of the so-called Fighters Pass Vol. 2, which costs 29.99 euros and includes a total of six additional fighters by the end of the year, each with its own additional stage as well matching pieces of music. The additional content is only available digitally via the Switch eShop.
