More RGB on your desk with this Razer Thunderbolt 4 dock
Razer has announced a new Thunderbolt 4 dock, an accessory designed to give a touch of color to your desk, thanks to its integration with the Chroma RGB ecosystem, and which offers many ports to make the station future-proof.

The device, called Razer Thunderbolt 4 Dock Chroma, is priced at $ 329.99 and has a total of ten ports, ensuring full compatibility with any Windows 10 notebook equipped with Thunderbolt 3 or 4 and Mac with Thunderbolt 3, a provided they are running macOS Big Sur. Of the four Thunderbolt 4 ports, you will need to use one to connect your laptop to the anodized aluminum dock, while the other three can be used for supplying power and sending data or video signals. Razer claims that the dock supports data rates of up to 40Gb / s and up to two 4K resolution monitors at 60Hz or a single 8K monitor at 30Hz, but does not use traditional HDMI or DisplayPort outputs. In fact, you will have to use this dock with a USB-C or Thunderbolt monitor or get some suitable adapters.

On the front, in addition to a Thunderbolt 4 port, there is also an SD card reader and an audio jack 3.5 mm, while on the back we find the other three Thunderbolt 4 ports, the RJ-45 Ethernet connector and three USB 3.1 Gen 2 Type-A. The dock comes with a 135W power supply and is capable of delivering 90W to charge your notebook without additional cables. As we mentioned in the introduction, Razer Thunderbolt 4 Dock Chroma, as the name implies, is able to synchronize with Razer's Synapse software, offering the ability to customize the lighting.

However, Razer isn't the first to market an RGB dock. In fact, Western Digital already added the D50 Game Dock NVMe to its line up last year. It's no big surprise to see Razer, known primarily as a gaming-centric company, making office products. In 2020, he created his first productivity-focused notebook, the Razer Book 13, as well as some peripherals made in collaboration with Humanscale. The company is also updating its laptop stand, the Laptop Stand Chroma V2, offering more ports (USB 3.2 Gen 1 for both Type-A and Type-C, HDMI 2.0 and USB-C for power) and an angle of 18 ° to improve ergonomics. It too comes with Chroma RGB support and will be priced at $ 150.
