Motorola: The Moto G200 and four new mid-range models renew a good part of the lineup

Motorola

Confirming some rumors that appeared in October, Motorola has presented five new smartphones of the Moto G series, all arriving in the next few weeks exclusively by Amazon, a few months after the latest renewal of its lineup.

This time, however, it did not hold back from the point of view of the characteristics, considered too modest for some models launched last spring, pushing itself to the maximum even with the new top of the range, the Moto G200, already unveiled in late October by the appearance of price and features on the website of a Bangladeshi retailer.

The flagship model, with its Snapdragon 888 SoC and 108 MP main camera, stands on the new Moto G71, Moto G51, Moto G41 and Moto G31, but there is no need to underestimate them. The Moto G71 still has a good level SoC, the Moto G51 offers a refresh of 120 Hz below 280 euros, the Moto G41 has 30 W fast charging and the Moto G31 combines OLED and complete photographic compartment in a single package with a price of 239.90 euros. Below are the detailed characteristics of the Moto G200 and the other four new models of the Moto G series.

Motorola Moto G200

The Moto G200, new top of the range The already excellent Moto G100, in the our list of the best mid-range smartphones, is being replaced by a model that goes even higher in features, moving to the Snapdragon 870 at the top of the Snapdragon 888+ range.

The powerful Qualcomm processor brings with it the maximum possible connectivity and the promise of top performance in terms of gaming, where the 6.8-inch screen with 2460 x 1080 resolution and 144 Hz refresh is also noted. All seasoned with 108 MP main camera and USB-C port 3.1 with DisplayPort support also functional to exploit, with an external display, the Ready For desktop environment.

With the transition to top-of-the-range features the recommended price inevitably rises which at launch, at the beginning exclusive to Amazon, will be 599.90 euros, pushing this model, which for Italy will arrive only in the configuration from 8 GB of RAM and 128 GB of storage, towards the high end. And this is where the lack of OLED screen and the limit to 4K at 30 fps for video recording stand out, hardly understandable given the capabilities of the Snapdragon 888+.

Motorola Moto G71

The Moto G71 seeks the balance between power and price The Moto G71 will also arrive in the coming weeks, as we have said exclusively by Amazon, with a recommended price of 339.90 euros for the only available configuration. In Italy, at least at first, we will see only the 6 GB of RAM and 128 GB variant, in Iron Black color.

In this case we find the Snapdragon 690, more modest but with connectivity, to act as a SoC 5G. Furthermore, the screen is OLED, albeit limited to 60 Hz, and there is no lack of fast charging that drops from 33 to 30 W, but it is enough to charge the smartphone to 50% in just 30 minutes. The megapixels of the camera are halved, but the Quad Pixel technology makes up for it, which promises excellent results even in less than optimal light conditions.

Motorola Moto G51

The Moto G51 renounces the OLED to combine low price and high refresh With the Moto G51 we go down to 279.90 euros which do not however provide for the renunciation of the main photographic block of the previous model and not even the combination of 6 GB of memory and 128 GB of s torage. However, we return to an LED screen, even if in this case we are talking about a larger and high framerate panel, with a 120 Hz refresh that is also functional for gaming.

We also remain in the field of 5G connectivity thanks to the new Snapdragon 480+ SoC which, compared to the base model, has 200 MHz more frequency for the processor, as well as Bluetooth 5.2 connectivity. Disappearing is Wi-Fi 6, but 802.11ac Wave 2 Wi-Fi connectivity with dual band support is more than enough for most needs. The major flaw, in fact, seems to be the fast charging which for this model drops to only 10 W.

Motorola Moto G41 and G31

The Moto G41 is almost identical to the Moto G31, but distinguished by fast charging and optical stabilization of the camera With the Moto G41 and G31 we are talking about two smartphones with very similar characteristics that mount the same SoC MediaTek Helio G85 4G, looking at different needs compared to the Moto G51. In fact, both focus on a 60 Hz OLED screen, more limited for gaming but with the advantages in terms of contrast and color of organic LED technology.

Both models, among other things, will arrive with 4 GB of memory and 128 GB of storage, also on Amazon, with a price of 269.90 euros for the Moto G41, only 10 euros cheaper than the Moto G51 to underline how it is more an alternative than a lower model, and of 239.90 euros for the Moto G31.

To change between the two models, in addition to the price, are the fast charging, from 30 W for the Moto G41 and from only 10 W for the Moto G31, and the photographic sector, very similar and in both cases with Quad Pixel technology but from 50 MP for the Moto G31 and from 48 MP for the Moto G41, but equipped with optical stabilization.
